Cowboys star offensive lineman Zack Martin reportedly did not show up to the start of training camp amid his discontent over his current contract situation, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Martin, who has earned All-Pro honors in eight seasons, including six selections to the NFL’s First-Team All-Pro, previously threatened to sit out training camp as he looks to get compensated in line with his production on the field.
Under his current deal, Martin is due to make $13.5 million in 2023, including a $1.7 million base salary.

The Browns’ addition of wide receiver Elijah Moore caught plenty of attention this offseason. Now with training camp underway, it appears Moore’s presence and playmaking ability has caught the attention of his teammates, as well.
Moore, who was acquired along with a third-round pick by Cleveland in exchange for a second-rounder, spent the first two seasons of his NFL career with the Jets. He impressed as a rookie, catching 43 passes for 538 yards and five touchdowns in just 11 games.
Kansas offensive lineman Joe Krause was arrested Monday on charges of an “aggravated criminal threat” that “[caused] terror, evacuation or disruption,” per the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Lawrence, Kan.

Football is back. How do we know this? Well, players and coaches are on fields all over the country working through the first few days of training camp.
But we also know this because Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is back standing up in front of cameras and saying very mundane things, all with the tone of someone who would rather be anywhere else than talking to members of the media.
Belichick gave a classic Belichick answer Tuesday when he was asked about Lawrence Guy’s contract situation and if he’d be ready to go after ending his holdout.
Saquon Barkley is making about $11M to play a game. It’s a charmed life. But the diminishing returns for his work is something fans in the stands can relate to.

Netflix’s new show Quarterback has left fans wondering who the next stars of the upcoming season will be.
Apparently the show has already reached out to at least one quarterback in the league as Bears starter Justin Fields admitted during his Tuesday press conference to getting a call. However, Fields decided to turn down the offer as he enters his third NFL season, explaining that he didn’t want the pressure of the show to be a distraction for the Bears.
“They actually did reach out, and I don’t think I want to do it,” Fields said.
It’s no secret that ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith is a big New York Knicks fan. And with Damian Lillard’s status in flux due mostly to his desire to get traded to the Miami Heat, Smith made the case on First Take Tuesday for why Lillard’s best destination is actually New York, not Miami.
Smith was seen hugging a logo of the Knicks on the First Take set before launching into a monologue on why the Knicks are a the best fit for the Trail Blazer’s star’s services.
“This is the Mecca, this ain’t Portland. This is New York City, baby,” Smith said.
Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh could be headed toward a four-game suspension to start this season, sources have confirmed to Sports Illustrated. Yahoo Sports initially reported the potential suspension.
A negotiated resolution has been reached between NCAA Enforcement and the school and it has been submitted to the Committee on Infractions for approval or rejection, sources familiar with the process say. The general timeline for the COI to sign off on a negotiated resolution is about 30 days.
Dustin Poirier is treating his UFC 291 bout against Justin Gaethje as a title eliminator.
The winner of this Saturday’s fight, he believes, will be first in line to challenge whomever is victorious in the upcoming Islam Makhachev-Charles Oliveira lightweight title matchup set for this October.
“This is definitely a number-one contender fight,” says Poirier. “Especially if Islam wins again, we’ve both never fought Makhachev, so it’s a new matchup on top of the division for the title. I’m going into this like the winner gets a title shot.
