After Randall Cobb was hit with a penalty for a blindside block on Giants safety Bobby McCain, his longtime Packers-turned-Jets teammate Aaron Rodgers nailed what would happen next.
“Cobby lost all his f—ing training camp money,” Rodgers exclaimed in the huddle after the penalty, a moment caught on HBO’s Hard Knocks.
“What are you doing, bro? This ain’t 2014,” he continued. “I blacked out. … I haven’t been able to hit nobody in a while,” Cobb responded.
As Rodgers predicted, the NFL didn’t look kindly upon Cobb’s violent hit back on Aug. 26.

No. 3 Ohio State captured a 23–3 victory over Indiana in Bloomington on Saturday to kick off its season, but it was an uncharacteristically flat performance for Ryan Day’s Buckeyes.
Ohio State led just 10–3 at the half and struggled to move the ball offensively, especially on the ground. Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson, the Buckeyes’ two primary ball-carriers, rushed the ball 19 times for 72 yards and two touchdowns, both of which came from Williams.
Junior quarterback Kyle McCord made his first start at Ohio State, taking over for C.J.
The University of Central Florida got its 2023 campaign off on the right foot with a 56-6 win over Kent State.
Things didn’t go quite as well on social media as they did on the field.
At one point during the game, the Knights social media account shared a photo of quarterback John Rhys Plumlee. With it was the caption, “SOMEONE CALL THE NATIONAL GUARD.”
History buffs will know exactly where this one is headed…
Only took one night of college football for some social media person to get fired pic.twitter.
We will most likely look back at the 2023 season and remember the Colorado win over TCU as one of the best games of the year. We will also look back at the Deion Sanders postgame press conference and form two opinions, depending on how the season turns out.
Either way, Coach Prime knows how to grab attention, with his players showing out Saturday afternoon.
Since taking the Colorado job, Deion Sanders has told everyone who will listen that he would bring in the talent to win, even in the first season.
They were both characters in the Cowboys‘ glamorous, tumultuous 1990s drama—perhaps the most productive decade for any team in the Big Four American sports aside from the Bulls.
Deion Sanders was a Hall of Fame cornerback, plying his trade for Dallas from 1995 to ’99 to the tune of four Pro Bowl appearances. Ed Werder was a prominent beat writer, covering the Cowboys for The Dallas Morning News from 1992 to ’96.
Now, nearly three decades later, the two personalities crossed paths once again Saturday afternoon.
Division II program Virginia State was in line to capture a win in its season opener against FCS foe Norfolk State, clinging to a 27–24 lead with six seconds remaining.
On fourth-and-7 with six seconds to play, the Trojans kept their offense on the field in the shadow of their own goal posts. It was clear what the intent was.
Take the snap, run around for six seconds and even if it were to be a turnover on downs, the game would be over and Norfolk State would never possess the ball with the opportunity to win.
Ohio State had an up-and-down performance on offense to open the 2023 season.
Deion Sanders was tired of hearing Colorado wasn’t going to be good, and he let his haters have it after a wild win over No. 17 TCU to start his FBS tenure. “I’m here and I ain’t going nowhere.
Texas Rangers pitcher Max Scherzer has long been known as one of baseball’s most durable starting pitchers.
But the 39-year-old starter is being a lot more cautious about his health this season.
Scherzer started Friday night’s home game against the Minnesota Twins in Arlington, with the Rangers needing every win in a tight AL West division race. Scherzer was dominant through six scoreless innings, and with just 88 pitches, seemed set to return for the seventh.
The former interim heavyweight champion rebounded from a disappointing loss to Jon Jones in a heavyweight title fight in March by pummeling Serghei Spivac on Saturday in the main event of UFC Paris.
