Caleb Williams is an uber-talented quarterback, has a Heisman Trophy with his name on it, and will likely be the first quarterback selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. But, if you can find one knock against the 21-year-old’s game it’s what he’s done against elite defenses during his college career.
Williams struggled, mightily, against Notre Dame last weekend throwing three interceptions in a game for the first time in his career en route to a 48-20 beatdown in South Bend. His bad outing against the Irish isn’t his first tough go at it against high-level defenses.

Well, we’ve made it — the absolute PEAK of the NFL season. For that matter, we’ve made it to the peak of the sports calendar in general.
This is the time of year where all the beautiful things in our lives collide. The weather, the holidays, and, of course, our sports.
There’s football on every single night from now until like Thanksgiving. Seriously. Mother Nature is by far at her sexiest this time of year, too. Just cool enough for a light jacket, but not too cold yet for another one over that one. Perfection. Nice foliage, too, outside of the great state of Florida.

He is the last of a breed, a pitcher who still logs distance runs to enable him the mental and physical strength to keep his stuff deep into games (even if out of respect for the Texas heat, his runs often come inside Globe Life Field with the roof closed). Since he turned 35, he has shamed much younger pitchers by gobbling up more innings than anyone except Gerrit Cole. He is the only pitcher since 1884 to last 2,800 innings and maintain a strikeout-to-walk rate of 4.5.

Almost nobody showed up to watch Sam Houston and FIU battle it out Wednesday night in Texas.
The Bearkats entered the night 0-6 and FIU entered the contest with a 3-4 record. It’s hard to celebrate a 3-4 record, but compared to Sam Houston, the Panthers are elite.
Turns out fans don’t really want to show up to watch two teams with a combined 3-10 record play in Huntsville, Texas on a Wednesday night.
Almost nobody showed up to watch FIU and Sam Houston play Wednesday night in Huntsville. A viral photo shows the stands practically empty.

Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman looks ready to audition for a 1970s police film after shaving his beard.
The Fighting Irish gunslinger is known for sporting a huge beard or at least a sturdy beard going back to his time at Wake Forest.
He’s long had a bit of a rugged lumberjack look. As a fellow man who has sported a beard for more than a decade, I respect the mentality and look.

Well, those days are behind Hartman.

LSU is going the distance to honor the military for the team’s Saturday matchup against Army.
The Tigers and the Black Knights will take the field Saturday night in Baton Rouge, and while it’s not an SEC conference game, it’s always neat for the guys from West Point to be in town.
In honor of playing young men who will graduate and enter the armed services, LSU decided to pull off a pretty classy move.
The Tigers painted the end zone in military camouflage colors to honor Army for the matchup. You can check out what it looks like in the tweet below, and send me your thoughts to David.

The Aces jumped into a pile at half court, their cheers cutting through the stunned silence of a shocked Barclays Center. Las Vegas had sent the Liberty packing, defeating the home team 70–69 to clinch back-to-back WNBA titles. There was no confetti or celebratory music, but the Aces created a party of their own, dancing as they were presented with the league trophy, cutting through a smattering of boos—a parting gift from New York.
In commissioner Cathy Engelbert presenting Las Vegas with its hardware for the second year in a row, the WNBA had crowned its latest dynasty.
