Feddie Freeman’s walk-off grand slam in Game One of the World Series. Then the remarkable five-run fifth inning at Yankee Stadium in game five, culminating in a dramatic eighth and ninth inning to clinch the title.

The New York Yankees absolutely skull-rocked their former teammate, Nestor Cortes, right from the get-go of their game against Milwaukee.
For the past four seasons (and in 2019), Cortes had donned pinstripes and pitched admirably for the Yankees. In the offseason, however, he signed a 1-year, $7.6 million deal with the Brewers, but he didn’t need to wait long to reunite with his old team.
Milwaukee’s first series was in the Bronx, and Cortes got the starting nod in the second game of the season on Saturday.

Robert Funk is just coming off a nine-day stretch of competition in Northern California, with two runner-up finishes to show for it. The rest period doesn’t last long, however, because this week he jumps right back in at the Golfweek Senior Division National Championship.
Funk, 61, of Canyon Lake, California, is not a grind-all-year-long guy. An ordinary week includes one, maybe two rounds at his home course, Bear Creek in Murrieta, California, and one or two range sessions. Despite the balmy weather of his home state, he’ll take three to four months off around the holidays.

Brandon Bennett kept up with Tim Harris Jr. through the years, from his time at Miami to UCF. So when Harris Jr. followed Gus Malzahn from Orlando to Tallahassee, the new Florida State assistant coaches were quick to continue the relationship with Bennett.
“I was with him most of the day,” Bennett said on Thursday. “We built our relationship since before he came to Florida State. He was at Miami. He’s bounced around a couple places. We kept in touch most of the time. I’ve known him for a minute.”
