INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Houston coach Kelvin Sampson had the perfect play for his team, tied against Purdue with just two seconds left in the game.
After a back-and-forth battle for 59 minutes, it was Milos Uzan who did exactly what his head coach had drawn up, leading to a huge win for the Cougars, while sending shockwaves throughout Lucas Oil Stadium.
Leading by ten points with just under eight minutes remaining in the game on Friday night, Houston looked to have this one all but wrapped up, as Purdue continued to struggle around the basket.

After Friday night’s throttling of Kentucky, the Volunteers are one win away from the accomplishment that has eluded the program forever.
No major American sport loves its narratives, and views them more as absolutes, than men’s college basketball.
Mike Krzyzewski just can’t win the big one.
A freshman-led team will never cut down the nets.
The SEC will never be a legitimate basketball conference.
The internet is split over the officiating late in Houston’s Sweet 16 win against Purdue.
The Cougars won 62-60, but the game wasn’t without major controversy for one simple reason:
What appeared to be a missed push-off call that should have returned the ball to Purdue with a chance to win it.
Some people think Milos Uzan pushed off Boilermakers star Braden Smith in the final few seconds. It wasn’t called, Houston retained possession and scored on the inbound to win the game.

Texas A&M edge rusher Shemar Stewart is without a doubt one of the more fascinating case studies you’ll find in the NFL draft this year. Many will look at his physical traits and walk away enamored. If you look at the stat sheet, however, you may walk away disgusted. It’s what makes mock drafts that have the New Orleans Saints selecting Stewart so divisive.
The defensive end is the epitome of traits vs. production or athlete vs. player. Stewart ended his career with 4.5 sacks over three years, finishing with exactly 1.5 sacks in every season.
Michigan State basketball is one step closer to another trip to the Final Four.
The Spartans once again overcame a double-digit deficit to knock off Ole Miss in the Sweet 16 on Friday night. Michigan State didn’t get its first lead of the game until midway through the second half, and needed some key plays from a variety of players down the stretch to get the win over the Rebels.
Michigan State got big scoring performances from Jase Richardson (20 points) and Coen Carr (15 points) to earn the victory.
The search for the next head men’s basketball coach is over. North Texas head coach Ross Hodge was tabbed with the job after a search that expanded a little over a week.
It will be a major opportunity for Hodge, who has spent the last eight seasons with the Mean Green. The past two as the head coach and the six prior to that as the associate head coach on the staff. Hodge has led North Texas to a 46-23 record as the leader of the program, including a 27-8 mark during this current season.
And therein lies the rub, as the Mean Green are still playing basketball.
Who do the experts have the Indianapolis Colts selecting in our latest edition of NFL mock draft roundup?
The Colts changed course and attacked free agency this offseason rather than sitting on the sidelines. This included signing one of the best available safeties in Cam Bynum and one of the best available cornerbacks in Charvarius Ward. Adding those two to the mix has now given the Colts some added flexibility going into the NFL draft. Safety and cornerback are now positions that the Colts no longer have to address right away, freeing them up to tackle other needs.
Barcelona still interested in €70m-rated winger on Man United, Chelsea radars
Last summer, Barcelona went after the signing of Nico Williams very ardently but ended up missing out on the Spanish international, who opted to continue at Athletic Club.
Interest in the 22-year-old attacker seemed to have died down even though Barça are still on the lookout for a new winger in the market.
Instead, names such as Luis Diaz of Liverpool and Rafael Leao of AC Milan have emerged as the subject of transfer interest for the Blaugrana.
Let’s be honest, there’s nothing better than hearing professional athletes get caught on a microphone flipping out and giving us an insight as to what the game is really like.
Sure, HBO’s Hard Knocks can give us the sensationalism (or try to, at least), but during the actual game? Nothing beats an actual microphone picking up the interactions, arguments and drama.

Let’s rank the Elite Eight at the 2025 men’s NCAA tournament.
The 2025 men’s NCAA tournament only has eight teams left standing. This has been one of the chalkiest tournaments in recent March Madness history, with the higher-seeded teams advancing through the bracket with little trouble. All four No. 1 seeds are still alive as we reach the Elite Eight, and No. 3 seed Texas Tech is the closest thing left to a Cinderella.
Duke and Florida continue to look like the favorites for the national championship.
