Bronny James, incoming USC freshman basketball player and son of Lakers star LeBron James, suffered a cardiac arrest during a practice with the team Monday.
According to a statement from the James family via The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Bronny collapsed on the court and was taken to the hospital. He is in stable condition and no longer in the ICU after being tended to by the team’s medical staff.

BREAKING: Katie Ledecky is really, really good at swimming.
The US swimmer was in Japan for the finals of the 1500 meter freestyle swim (a medal she has won four straight times) and she quite legitimately left the opposition in the dust (well, water? Water dust? I don’t know, I’ll workshop it).
Ledecky, who also owns the 16 fastest times OF ALL TIME in the 1500 meter freestyle, is also so good that she creates memes because of how fast she is.

One of the media stories of the NFL season a year ago was the awkward exchange on Monday Night Football between SportsCenter‘s Scott Van Pelt and play-by-play announcer Joe Buck.
During a segment on SVP’s late-night SportsCenter show, he interviewed Buck and color commentator Troy Aikman following a December Monday Night Football tilt between the Chargers and Colts, a game that L.A. won 20–3.

Clemson wide receiver Blackmon Huckabee has a knack for getting on social media and showing off his vocal skills. But what he didn’t know was that his head coach Dabo Swinney had taken notice of his off-field talent.
The walk-on wideout has a TikTok page that’s full of him belting out cover songs for his 38,000 followers. A 2021 transfer from Furman, Blackmon had a chance to play for the Clemson Tigers and took coach Swinney up on the offer. But on the side, he was going to take full advantage of his downtime by preparing for a potential music career.

Although on the heels of a major, these five golfers have plenty to play for at the PGA Tour’s penultimate regular season event, the 3M Open.
The PGA Tour is now headed to the land of 10,000 lakes, where some of the world’s best golfers will tee it up in the 3M Open.
TPC Twin Cities will play host, which it has done since 2018—the 7,431-yard, par-72 layout used to be a staple on the PGA Tour Champions circuit.

Here are the top players who could be moved at the MLB trade deadline.
Major League Baseball’s trade deadline is rapidly approaching, which means that it’s time to start figuring out who could be on the move and who could actually be staying put once the deadline passes on Aug. 1. There are always plenty of interesting names that are on the trade market every season and this season is no different. One name in particular stands out from the rest and is probably the biggest name to hit the trade deadline rumor mill in a long, long time.

The Broncos’ blockbuster trade for Russell Wilson already lives in infamy, and somehow it found a way to get even worse for Denver.
Eyioma Uwazurike, the only player other than Wilson to come from the trade (by way of a 4th round pick in 2022) was suspended by the NFL indefinitely on Monday for gambling on NFL games. He’s the 10th player to be caught gambling, but one of only a handful who bet on league games. Uwazurike will now miss the entire 2023 season, with potential reinstatement not coming before July 24, 2024.

The definition of a “boom or bust” fantasy player is simple. Either a player performs to or above his average draft position (ADP), or he fails to meet those expectations. Some players can fit under the definition of both labels before drafts, however.
Last season, Saquon Barkley was the poster boy for such a player.
The Giants running back had barely played the previous two seasons due to injuries, and when he did play, he wasn’t nearly as productive as he was as a rookie. Still, he was a second-round pick in many leagues. That created a boom or bust scenario.

Aces star Candace Parker will be out indefinitely after undergoing successful surgery on a fracture in her foot, according to a release from the team early Tuesday morning.
The statement from Las Vegas said that Parker had been playing on a fracture in her foot all season but recently consulted with the team’s medical staff and opted to have surgery instead of risking further injury to her ailing foot.
The veteran big has started 18 games for the Aces this season after coming over from the Sky in free agency to join the defending WNBA champions. She has averaged 9.0 points and 3.
