Dustin Poirier is treating his UFC 291 bout against Justin Gaethje as a title eliminator.
The winner of this Saturday’s fight, he believes, will be first in line to challenge whomever is victorious in the upcoming Islam Makhachev-Charles Oliveira lightweight title matchup set for this October.
“This is definitely a number-one contender fight,” says Poirier. “Especially if Islam wins again, we’ve both never fought Makhachev, so it’s a new matchup on top of the division for the title. I’m going into this like the winner gets a title shot.

The Broncos are the latest team to add a new uniform combination this season, as Denver revealed their new “snowcapped” helmets. The helmets, which are white with an orange stripe and the team’s old school “D” logo, will be worn with the team’s orange color rush uniforms.
To reveal the helmets to the internet, Denver posted a video on Twitter set in a forest during a winter storm, with the helmets sitting on a throne made of ice. Then, players came out in their orange jerseys, put on the helmet and sat on the ice throne, posing for the camera.

With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Astros designated hitter Yainer Díaz singled in right fielder Kyle Tucker to ostensibly win the 10–9 game for Houston.
The old cliché says that every time you go to the ballpark, you’ll see something you haven’t seen before. That was certainly true for fans at Saturday’s Triple A game between the Syracuse Mets and Buffalo Bisons.
In the bottom of the third, Buffalo pitcher Paxton Schultz threw a slider that got away from him and ran inside on Syracuse first baseman Luke Voit. Voit tried to hop out of the way but the pitch was too far inside for him to avoid. As he instinctively dropped his front elbow to protect his ribs, he actually caught the ball between his elbow and torso.
