Fan favorite Max Homa walked off an ace on the par-3 15th hole at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and fans on and off the course were fired up.
The ESPN-plus broadcasters on the par-3 15th hole at the Rocket Mortgage Classic manifested a hole-in-one, and Max Homa delivered. He hit the 140-yard shot, loved what he did with the club, and didn’t even watch it go into the hole.
Homa knew it was pure, so he bent over to get his tee, and by the time he leaned up, the ball dropped into the hole.
Max Homa is having a very nice season on the PGA Tour. He’s currently third in the FedEx Cup standings with two tournament victories this year. But, it’s been a little bit of a struggle coming into this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club.
Max Homa missed the cut at the US Open and again at the Travelers Championship last week. He’s very much been a “boom-or-bust” player over the last few months. He finished Top 10 at the Charles Schwab Challenge and the Wells Fargo Championship.
However, he missed the cut at the RBC Heritage and the Zurich Classic.

LIV Golf punished Richard Bland, one of its players, for slow play, something PGA Tour fans have been crying for.
Slow play has been an issue for years in professional golf. LIV Golf finally took action on the slow play as they penalized one of their players for not keeping pace at Valderrama, per a public statement.
Richard Bland received a one-stroke penalty for not improving his pace of play after being asked to speed it up multiple times.
He played alongside Sergio Garcia and Dean Burmester.
Nikola Jokic is very grateful for all of the opportunities that have been provided to him in the United States. The reigning NBA Finals MVP and NBA champion has had a lot of success over his eight-year career and barely missed out on his third-straight MVP award after a strong late-season surge by Joel Embiid and burnout among voters.
All of that is great, but Jokic ultimately doesn’t care about anything except for winning. Which he and the Denver did, in dominant fashion.

Verstappen secures his fifth-straight victory at the Austrian Grand Prix
Stop me if you have heard this before.
Max Verstappen has won another grand prix.
There was a bit of drama in the Austrian Grand Prix, as Verstappen did not lead wire-to-wire. But he was yet again the dominant force on the track today, pulling away from Charles Leclerc for his fifth-straight grand prix victory this season.
Leclerc prevented the front-row lockout for Red Bull, finishing ahead of Sergio Pérez for second place.

Fowler has had a long way back, but back he is. He finished his third round at the Rocket Mortgage Classic on fire, setting up a great final day.
Rickie Fowler has been through a lot the last couple of years. He had fallen outside the top 150 in the Official World Golf Rankings and placed well outside the top 100 in the FedEx Cup points standings the last two seasons.
All of that appears to be in the rearview now. Fowler charged down the back nine of Saturday’s round at the Rocket Mortgage Classic to take the lead.
The Jazz are signing guard Jordan Clarkson to a new three-year, $55 million contract, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Sunday morning.
Clarkson was originally a second-round draft pick by the Lakers in 2014 and was traded to the Cavaliers in 2018. Cleveland then traded Clarkson to Utah in ’19, and he has spent the past 3 1/2 seasons in Utah. He was named NBA Sixth Man of the Year for the 2020-21 season.
Last year, the point guard had a career year, averaging 20.8 points and 4.4 assists per game while playing a career high 32.
After a successful stint to end last season, the LA Clippers are bringing back Russell Westbrook on a two-year, $7.8 million deal that includes a player option.
The Knicks are reuniting Donte DiVincenzo with his former Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, agreeing to a four-year, $50 million deal with the free agent guard.
