The NCAA’s crackdown on second-time transfers being granted immediate eligibility went to a new extreme with the organization’s latest waiver denial.
The NCAA informed Cal this week that Jaylon Tyson, a transfer from Texas Tech who also spent time at Texas, had his waiver for immediate eligibility denied. The ruling comes in spite of the fact that Tyson, who is Black, left Texas Tech in the wake of head coach Mark Adams resigning after making racist comments to players.

The Buccaneers lost to the Bills on Thursday night, but Tampa Bay had a chance to squeak out a win by converting a Hail Mary on the game’s final play. However, Baker Mayfield’s final throw fell to the ground as time expired, sealing Tampa Bay’s fourth loss of the season, 24-18.
