The latest wave of talent layoffs at ESPN have claimed a surprising name: beloved NBA analyst Jeff Van Gundy.
Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reported Friday that Van Gundy, who has been with ESPN since 2007, was among those the company is laying off as part of cost-saving measures. Van Gundy later confirmed he was part of the layoffs to The Athletic. Marchand reported the total number of on-air layoffs expected Friday is around 20 total employees. The move breaks up the longtime NBA Finals broadcast team that also features Mike Breen and Mark Jackson.

You know it as the clip where Windhorst raises two fingers in the air and dramatically leans back in his chair before talking about conspiracy theories around the NBA for two-plus minutes.

The New York Mets continued their brutal free fall down the NL East standings Thursday night with a 3–2 loss at home to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fans watching the 2023 Women’s World Cup in the crowd and at home will get treated to an aspect of refereeing that should remind them of the sort of football played in the NFL, rather than what will take place on the pitch in Australia and New Zealand this summer.
According to ESPN’s Tom Hamilton, referees at the international event will explain VAR decisions to both in-person crowds and those watching on television aloud over each stadium’s loudspeaker.
