Veteran sharpshooter Eric Gordon is set to hit unrestricted free agency this offseason after the Clippers declined to guarantee his $21 million contract for the 2023-24 season, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The decision to let Gordon walk will reportedly have some significant financial benefits for the team, too. According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the team figures to save $110 million on its luxury tax bill.
Heading into free agency, the Clippers had the highest estimated luxury tax bill in the league, by a wide margin.
Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German became the 24th pitcher in MLB history to record a perfect game on Wednesday after he shut down the Athletics during an 11–0 win.
German became the first-ever Dominican-born player to achieve the feat. The last MLB player to throw a perfect game was Mariners ace Félix Hernández back in 2012, so it’d been over a decade since fans were treated to a truly flawless outing.
German sat down all 27 batters he faced, striking out nine batters without allowing a baserunner.
New York Yankees right-hander Domingo Germán threw the 24th perfect game in MLB history. Germán led the Yankees as they wiped the floor with the Oakland A’s, 11-0, on Wednesday at the Coliseum.
Even the home crowd started to cheer as Germán, 30, faced three final outs in the ninth inning.
Here’s the historic moment:

Canadiens goaltender Carey Price botched the announcement of the organization’s first-round pick during Wednesday’s NHL draft, seemingly forgetting the last name of the selection, David Reinbacher.
Price got halfway through announcing Montreal’s pick at No. 5 in the draft before he awkwardly struggled to recall Reinbacher’s name until GM Kent Hughes stepped in with an assist.
The unfortunate draft night moment made the rounds on social media, prompting Price to come forth and apologized to Reinbacher, making sure to write out his last name in full.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith took an unprovoked shot at Lakers guard Dennis Schroder on Wednesday, taking to Twitter to quote tweet a photo of Schroder.
The tweet Smith was responding to features two images of Schroder, one from his time with the Hawks, and one from this season in Los Angeles.
Smith, seemingly out of nowhere, took the opportunity to take a shot at Schroder over his hairline, while also having a laugh at his own expense in the process.
“Haaaaa! See……there are actually others worse than me!!!” wrote Smith on Twitter.
