You can take the divisions out of the ACC, but you can’t take the craziness. Let’s take a brief swing through just what exactly this league gave us on this glorious October Saturday.

In the aftermath of the NHL’s offseason ban on Pride tape, the first player has stepped up to defy it.
Coyotes defenseman Travis Dermott wrapped the top of his stick in rainbow-colored tape Saturday night as Arizona defeated the Ducks 2-1 to move to 3-2 on the season.
The NHL’s board of governors moved to ban Pride tape or tape related to special initiatives in June, following a season in which the league courted multiple controversies related to players’ refusal to show support for Pride-related initiatives.

Saturday marked another day of clarity across the college football landscape.
In the early afternoon block of games, No. 3 Ohio State flexed its defensive muscles in a hard-fought win over No. 7 Penn State, while No. 6 Oklahoma stopped UCF on a late two-point conversion to preserve its undefeated ledger.
Later, No. 11 Alabama overturned an early 13-point deficit against No. 17 Tennessee at home, and No. 8 Texas downed Houston in controversial fashion.

Utah escaped Saturday night’s game vs. USC with a 34–32 win as the Utes kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired.
Utah kicker Cole Becker was the team’s hero on Saturday night after he made the 38-yard field goal attempt to seal the win. The crowd was in shock as the ball went through the uprights at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
This was USC’s second loss in a row after they dropped a tough battle against rival Notre Dame last weekend. The No. 18 Trojans moved to 6–2 on the season.

Bryan Abreu’s pitch to Texas Rangers’ outfielder Adolis Garcia was just a bit inside, as Bob Uecker might have said. And high.
The Astros pitcher’s 99 mph fastball sailed very high and way inside and hit Garcia on the left arm in the bottom of the eighth inning in game five of the American League Championship Series Friday night. Houston trailed 4-2 at the time with a runner on first and nobody out. Garcia jumped in Houston catcher Martin Maldonado’s face about it as both benches cleared.
