PHOENIX — Adolis García was headed for an MRI tube and Max Scherzer walked as stiffly as a kid in a Frankenstein Halloween costume giving a poor interpretation of what Mary Shelley had in mind for the monster’s mobility. “Agony,” was the word Scherzer used to describe his physical condition, not something you ever want associated with your presumed World Series Game 7 starter.
What happened after the Rangers won Game 3 Monday night, 3–1, may decide the World Series even more than that game.

ESPN’s Zach Lowe joins Dan Devine on a special Halloween episode of Devine Intervention to talk about his NBA-related fears, giant werewolves and yearbook quotes.
The NFL is a funny place.
All season, the Texans have gotten superb play from C.J. Stroud, while the Panthers watched Bryce Young struggle on a weekly basis. Then, the two got together, and Young outplayed Stroud on Sunday to give Carolina its first win.
Additionally, the draft was thought to be light on receivers back in April. Fast forward to the present, and the 2023 class appears to have many pass catchers capable of being 1,000-yard talents either this year or in the future.
So who is rising, falling and holding steady? We break it all down below.

The Falcons are a mess. Let’s break down the biggest reason why.
It’s abundantly clear that Arthur Smith is the wrong coach for the Falcons at the worst possible time. In brief period he’s managed to take potentially one of the most exciting offenses in the NFL and turn them into hollow shell of mediocrity. The worst part is that Smith seemingly has no awareness why the team is struggling, nor does he want to make efforts to improve them.
This was apparent on Sunday when then Atlanta was dismantled by the Titans in Will Levis’ first start.
Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell thinks his son could have caught some missed passes during the team’s loss to Ohio State.
The Badgers lost a gritty game to the Buckeyes late Saturday night in Madison. Despite the final score being 24-10, the actual result on the field was a lot closer than casual fans reading the box score might think.
The Badgers even had the game tied halfway through the third quarter. Wisconsin fans seemed impressed by the effort and product on the field, despite the loss. There are no moral victories, but there are certainly positives to be taken away from the loss.
There’s no doubt Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is a football man through and through.
The Lions earned a tough 26-14 win at home Monday night over the Raiders, and it was another gritty victory. Detroit now sits at 6-2, and is in complete control of the team’s destiny.
However, the action on the field wasn’t the only thing that generated some serious attention Monday night. The team tweeted a brief ESPN clip before kickoff of Campbell talking about his views on the team and tough football players, and the Detroit coach started crying.
The 76ers have agreed to trade James Harden, P.J. Tucker and Filip Petrusev to the Clippers in exchange for Marcus Morris, Nic Batum, Robert Covington, KJ Martin, multiple draft picks and a pick swap, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Sixers finally delivered the 10-time All-Star point guard to his desired destination in a deal that reportedly includes six other players and multiple draft picks.
While NBA fans had been awaiting the news drop on a potential James Harden trade for weeks, or even months now, there’s a good chance most were asleep when it finally came. The reported trade that will send the 76ers guard to the Clippers was first reported just after 2 a.m. EST by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Understandably, the late-night East Coast fans and the West Coasters still awake were left completely stunned. The late-night “Woj Bomb” is always a possibility, but no one was ready for what transpired after it.

The James Harden era has officially come to a (merciful) end in Philadelphia.
We officially have our first late-night Woj Bomb of the 2023-24 season, and it puts to an end one of the saddest and strangest trade sagas in NBA history, as Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported early Tuesday morning on the East Coast that the Philadelphia 76ers are finally, mercifully sending perpetually disgruntled All-Star and trade demand enthusiast James Harden to the LA Clippers.
