Neus Santamaría is only 27 years old, but she already holds one of the most important roles in motor sports: race director. The job requires her to keep competitors as safe as possible on the track and ensure all rules and regulations are followed and that events run as smoothly as possible.
As the inaugural season of F1 Academy, the all-women racing series, comes to a close in Austin this weekend, Santamaría will complete her first year exclusively in the role. Previously, she juggled the position with a full-time role in teaching before making the jump to pursue a career in motor sports.

By the end of American League Championship Series Game 4 on Thursday night, the lawyers left in the crowd at Globe Life Field must have been thumbing through the Texas Constitution to see if what they’ve been watching all year is actually legal. When they came upon Article 1, Section 17, they realized what has been happening: eminent domain, the taking of public property.
With 76 runs in eight games, including 8–5 and 10–3 thumpings of the Rangers in the ALCS, the Astros own Globe Life Field, if not the ALCS itself.

Former Warriors and 76ers forward Andre Iguodala is retiring from the NBA after a 19-year career.
The four-time NBA champion told Andscape’s Marc J. Spears that he is hanging up his sneakers after nearly two decades as a pro.
“It’s just the right time,” Iguodala told Spears. “Time started to get limited for me, and I didn’t want to put anything in the back seat. I didn’t want to have to try to delegate time anymore. Especially with on the court, off the court with family. A lot.
“You want to play at a high level. But then family is a lot.

Alex Rodriguez has one of the more complicated legacies in MLB history as one of the faces of the league’s steroid era. Still, he did record 696 career home runs, a number that only four other players have reached.
The former third baseman spent the majority of his career with the Yankees, totaling 351 home runs in 12 seasons for New York. However, perhaps because Rodriguez was once suspended 162 games for taking performance-enhancing drugs, the Yankees have not retired his number.
Rodriguez last played in the 2016 season, and in 2021, New York gave Rodriguez’s No.

Andre Iguodala is a four-time NBA champion and former NBA Finals MVP. While his resume after 19 seasons in the league is undoubtedly impressive, two things can be true at once, and it’s fair to say Iguodala spent one too many seasons in the league.
The 39-year-old will retire as a four-time champ, but also as a glorified cheerleader for the Golden State Warriors.
Iguodala played in all of eight games for the Warriors last season averaging 14 minutes and two points in those contests. He didn’t see the floor once in the postseason.

1. During the offseason, four Lions players—Quintez Cephus, C.J. Moore, Stanley Berryhill and Jameson Williams—received suspensions from the NFL for violating its gambling policy.
Cephus and Moore was busted for betting on NFL games in the 2022 season, while Berryhill and Williams were suspended for betting from an NFL facility on non-NFL games.
I tell you all this because Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who went to USC, and teammate Julian Okwara, who went to Notre Dame, made a friendly wager on last week’s Trojans–Fighting Irish game.

Don’t look now, but the Jaguars are 5–2 and off to their best start since 2007.
Since falling to 1–2 after a blowout loss to the Texans, Jacksonville has won four in a row, including a 31–24 win in New Orleans against the Saints on Thursday. It took a defensive score, a fourth-down stop and an active day on the ground for Trevor Lawrence, but the Jaguars got it done.
That win has Matt Verderame wondering just how far they can go.

“Going under the assumption Jacksonville will take its second consecutive division title, the question becomes one of ceiling,” he writes.
