Hey everyone…
• It’s a week old now, but note that the Cincinnati event will stay in Cincinnati; an announcement that has met with great praise and relief throughout the Republic of Tennis. (Not just among us Midwest partisans.) In a perfect world, the tennis interest of Charlotte is repaid and that Queen City gets a smaller event.
• Per Craig Tiley, Rafa Nadal is (kinda sorta maybe) committed to playing the 2024 Australia Open.
• Speaking of Ohio, here’s a self-plug piece on Jim Jordan’s fitness to be House Speaker.

Did Michael Penix Jr. deliver the first “Heisman Moment” of the season?
Let’s yell about college football’s most prestigious award!
As the college football season makes its turn towards the closing stretch of the campaign, we now have a clearer picture of the Heisman Trophy candidates. Let’s work through the top ten candidates as we see them, starting with some players that might need some help to earn an invitation to New York City, working towards those who might not just get an invite, but could truly take home the hardware.

Taylor Swift has been a mainstay at Chiefs games ever since news of her reported relationship with tight end Travis Kelce went public.
Could Swift be making an appearance at other sporting events too? If it were up to soccer star Alex Morgan, the answer would be a resounding yes. She made it known that Swift is more than welcome to attend a San Diego Wave game this fall.
“There’s an open invitation, always,” Morgan told the media earlier this week. “American football games are fun, but real football games are even more fun,” she added.
“Exactly,” teammate Jaedyn Shaw agreed.
Andre Drummond’s missed dunk is another classic Shaqtin moment
Andre Drummond has had his fair share of viral moments for the wrong reasons over the years. We’ve seen him basically freeze on the court and then throw up the worst shot of all-time. We’ve seen him imitate LeBron from the bench, and do pointless Eurosteps in transition. We’ve seen him get fouled 12 straight times, and miss enough free throws to make it an effective strategy.
There’s a new play to add to Drummond’s greatest foibles over the years, and it happened in a preseason game.
The NBA regular season has yet to start, but Andre Drummond may already have the worst dunk attempt of the year.
During a preseason game against the Raptors on Tuesday, the Bulls center made a great play on defense in the fourth quarter when he picked off a pass on the perimeter for a clean fast break. There was nothing in between Drummond and a wide open dunk . . . except for maybe some rust.
Instead of taking an easy dunk or layup, Drummond elevated far from the basket for a monster tomahawk jam but fell several inches short in embarrassing fashion.
The Saints will host the Jaguars for Thursday Night Football. The oddsmakers at SI Sportsbook list the Saints as slight 1.5 point favorites and the 39.5 game total is one of the lowest of the week, and with doubts about the health of Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence, it’s important to be selective with player props. When looking at the current market, I am leaning toward the under on most receiving and rushing props. Both defenses are in the top half of the league, with the Saints being the better unit. Jacksonville has the higher-scoring offense for the season.
