In the aftermath of Friday’s dust-up in Game 5 of the ALCS, Major League Baseball handed down multiple penalties to the Astros and Rangers on Saturday as both teams gear up for Sunday’s pivotal Game 6.
Astros pitcher Bryan Abreu, whose errant fastball ignited tensions and led to his ejection, received a two-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his role in the bench-clearing incident, per the league. The decision came after MLB officials determined Abreu intentionally hit Rangers outfielder Adolis García with a pitch in the sixth inning after reviewing the play.

Iowa nearly came back to win against Minnesota on Saturday with just over a minute left of the game.
Hawkeyes defensive back Cooper DeJean returned a punt all the way to the end zone for a touchdown, giving the Hawkeyes a late 16–12 lead.
However, the touchdown was taken back after it was determined that DeJean signaled for a fair catch. Iowa fans at Kinnick Stadium loudly disagreed with this ruling as it appeared that DeJean was just signaling at his teammates to stay away from the ball, which he recovered off of a bounce before returning it for a touchdown.
Officials determined that Iowa’s Cooper DeJean made an invalid fair catch signal before fielding the ball.
The Raiders have told teams they are not trading Davante Adams, sources told ESPN.
Astros relief pitcher Bryan Abreu is facing a two-game suspension for hitting Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia with a 99 mph fastball during Game 5 of the ALCS.
The Raiders have informed teams that they have no interest in dealing Davante Adams before the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline, per a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Despite Adams publicly voicing his frustration over his role in the Las Vegas offense, the Raiders have made it clear they have no intentions of trading the six-time Pro Bowl talent who signed a five year, $140 million contract with the club in 2022.
“Y’all should know who I am, know what I’m about at this point. … When you’re a player like me, mentally, my benchmark is not wins and losses.
Remember when Penn State coach James Franklin was so cool.
He once said he judged prospective assistant coach hires’ recruiting ability by what their wives looked like.
Franklin was pretty cool as Vanderbilt’s coach in 2012 and ’13 as he went 9-4 back-to-back before heading to State College, Pennsylvania. No one wins like that at Vandy.
And he has been very good at Penn State with four 11-win seasons since gradually turning the program around to a Big Ten title in 2016. But there have been no conference titles since and no College Football Playoff appearances.
Washington State linebacker Devin Richardson was feeling generous during today’s meeting with Oregon, essentially giving the Ducks a touchdown.
In the third quarter, Oregon quarterback Bo Nix tossed a short swing pass to running back Bucky Irving, who scampered for a first down. And that’s about all that would have happened, if Richardson didn’t start daydreaming.
For some inexplicable reason, the Cougars linebacker seems to have thought the play was over, or Irving was heading in another direction or maybe he spotted a friend in the stands.
Tyrod Taylor is the anticipated starter, and the Giants elevated QB Tommy DeVito and from the practice squad.
Gentleman, make sure you sit down (carefully) before you watch this video of UFC fighter Victor Henry taking a nasty kick to the groin.
You will thank me later.
UFC 294 took place in Abu Dhabi on Saturday with a lightweight title rematch between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski.
However, the fight we want to discuss was a preliminary card bantamweight bout between Javid Basharat and Victor Henry.
At some point in the match, Basharat landed a kick. However, the part of Henry’s body that it landed on was his groin.
That sent the 36-year-old to the mat in agony.
