Chris “Mad Dog” Russo made a deal and has to stick to it, according to Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo.
The D-Backs skipper met with the media Thursday ahead of his team’s matchup against the Rangers in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday night. During the press conference, Lovullo was asked about the sports talk radio legend’s pledging to retire if Arizona defeated the Phillies in the NLCS.

Brooks Koepka has long played the disrespect card. Even when he was rattling off four major championship victories in eight starts from 2017-2019, himself, media members, and golf fans alike still, for some reason, viewed him as an underdog.
With a fifth major championship now under his belt and three LIV wins in a year’s time, he still doesn’t think he gets the respect he deserves.
“Five majors in and I’m still not the guy. If other people had done what I’ve done, then everybody would anoint them,” Koepka recently told Golf Monthly.

We know it may be hard to believe, but there are non-Michigan college football things of note happening. The Wolverines don’t even play this week, but plenty of other teams do. Let’s pick five, shall we?
All lines courtesy of SI Sportsbook. Last week: Forde 2–4, Johnson 4–2. Season: Forde 21-21-2, Johnson 20-22-2.
Oklahoma (-9) vs. Kansas
Johnson: Kansas. Jayhawks off a bye week with a sold out crowd jazzed up for the team. It’s a trickier environment than you might think. The Sooners should tread lightly.
Forde: Kansas.

Ohio State broke its trend of dropping fire hype videos, and it might have some fans concerned ahead of Saturday night against Wisconsin.
The Buckeyes and Badgers will square off Saturday night under the lights in Madison, and it will be one of the biggest games of the weekend. It’s without question Wisconsin’s biggest game of the season.
As we all know, you can’t have a major college football game without a great hype video, and nobody does the hype video game better than Ohio State.

Sunday, Fun Day! It’s time to get in your player prop selections for Week 8 at SI Sportsbook. With all 32 teams in action this weekend, there are countless ways to get in on the action. Here are some of my favorite early values for Sunday’s slate.
Lamar Jackson anytime TD (+120)
That’s right, we are getting plus money for Lamar to punch one in himself. I love the payout for Jackson, who has five rushing touchdowns this season. He’s facing a Cardinals team that has allowed three rushing touchdowns this year to quarterbacks (Sam Howell, Daniel Jones, and Brock Purdy).

Favoring the under for my best bets last week delivered winning results, but I’m still searching for my first 5–0 week this season.
Overall, I went 3–2. Not bad, but I was 2–2 with my under bets. I still can’t believe the PJ Walker-led Browns and Gardner Minshew-led Colts combined for a whopping 77 points last week.
But I’m not going to shy away from under bets for Week 8. Here are the five best over/under bets this week (all total numbers are from SI Sportsbook).

Tampa Bay Buccaneers punter Jake Camarda removed his helmet and caught Buffalo Bills’ defensive end Greg Rousseau with it during ‘Thursday Night Football,’ yet somehow avoided a flag.
The moment came midway through the second quarter when Camarda was on the field as the holder for a Chase McLaughlin field goal attempt. McLaughlin drilled the 57-yard field goal to give Tampa Bay its first three points of the game.

Swearing during live postgame interviews appears to be the new thing during the opening week of the 2023-24 NBA season.
On Wednesday night, Luka Dončić’ dropped an f-bomb after the Mavericks defeated the Spurs in their season opener. Thursday night, it was LeBron James’s turn to crown a live mic.
The Lakers beat the Suns, 100–95, led by Anthony Davis with 30 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks. It was a strong turnaround for the eight-time All-Star after going scoreless in the second half of Tuesday’s season-opening matchup with the Nuggets.

Shortly after Week 8 comes to a close, the focus shifts to the NFL trade deadline on October 31st at 4:00 pm (est).
