Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders doesn’t have a problem with NIL, but Collectives are becoming the issue according to Coach Prime.
Sanders has been vocal about the negatives of a collective handing off a bunch of money before a kid plays in a game. It’s not that he’s not for players being able to earn money off their Name, Image or Likeness. But Sanders would prefer athletes making their money from on-field production.
The conversation of how to regulate collectives and the NIL space led prominent head coaches to Washington last week.

Houston and men’s basketball head coach Kelvin Sampson have agreed to a contract extension worth more than $5 million a year, Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle reports. According to Duarte, only six coaches surpassed making $5 million last season.
Sampson first became the Cougars’ head coach in 2014, and after missing the NCAA Tournament in his first three seasons, Houston was good enough to make the tournament in each of the last six seasons. In ’21, Sampson led Houston to the Final Four as a No. 2 seed, the first time the Cougars made it that far since 1984.

Jalen Hurts is a competitor. He’s going to go all-out in everything that he does.
Even if it results in a nasty friction burn.
Hurts spent his Saturday at Coca-Cola Park, home of the Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. The 24-year-old quarterback and a few of his teammates played in DeVonta Smith’s second-annual Celebrity Softball Game.

Another male athlete stole a championship from a female over the weekend, and tennis legend Martina Navratilova is not impressed.
Austin Killips, a biological male, won the Belgian Waffle Ride 131-mile course in North Carolina on Saturday. He finished with a time of 8 hours, 28 minutes and 7 seconds — five minutes ahead of second-place female Paige Onweller.
For comparison, the winner of the men’s event finished with a time of 7 hours, 23 minutes and 23 seconds. So Killips is the “women’s” champ but would have lost to the first-place male by over an hour.
Daniel Murphy is one step closer to an unlikely MLB comeback.
Murphy, who last played in the majors in 2020 with the Rockies, has signed a minor-league contract with the Angels. The signing was announced by Michael Pfaff, the general manager of the independent Long Island Ducks, for whom Murphy began playing this season after two years out of baseball.
Murphy, 38, is a three-time All-Star who was a key part of the Mets’ 2015 National League pennant-winning team.
The sport-altering announcement about the PGA Tour – LIV Golf merger is less than a week old, and while there are plenty of questions surrounding the situation, facts about how the merger came to be are starting to be revealed.
Other than the simple question of why, who was involved, and when did negotiations start are two questions weighing on the golf world’s mind. We know the answers to those two questions, at least partially.
It is not uncommon for college baseball pitchers to go much deeper into games during the postseason than they would during the regular season, but Stanford, head coach David Esquer, and pitching coach Thomas Eager are getting some heat for how they managed ace Quinn Mathews on Sunday night. He threw 156 pitches, but he knows more about the risk of Tommy John injury than his haters.
Not big time… LEGENDARY!Quinn Mathews IS Stanford!

Apparently, former Georgia two-time national champion quarterback Stetson Bennett is still smarting from a sack by Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy last January.
Bennett, a rookie fourth round pick of Los Angeles Rams making $4.5 million over four years, took a shot at Nagy over the weekend for a tweet Nagy made not directed at Bennett.
“Rarely matters when you start grooming your kids.” Thank you for the overarching parental advice, Jim. Perhaps parents with dreams for their kids, or kids with dreams in general, should only listen to you, master king of talent evaluation.
There are elite athletes, and then there are triathletes. Forget physical strength: It takes major mental fortitude to swim, cycle, and run your way to a finish line that requires more than mere endurance. Training for triathlon really means practicing three different sports that engage your muscles in three entirely different ways—and that can make properly fueling your body even more complicated.
