The Buccaneers were inches away from pulling off a stunning upset of the Bills on Thursday Night Football.
Baker Mayfield’s last-second Hail Mary attempt reached its target, but wide receiver Chris Godwin failed to locate the ball before it landed untouched in the end zone.
Had Godwin turned around and tracked the ball in time, he’d have had a legitimate shot at catching the ball for a touchdown, which would’ve tied the game with Tampa Bay trailing by six at the time.

The panic meter went down a bit in Buffalo on Thursday night.
After ranging from shaky to atrocious the past three weeks against the Jaguars, Giants and Patriots, the Bills hammered the Buccaneers at Highmark Stadium, 24–18.
At 5–3, Buffalo has struggled at times, but finds itself only a 1/2 game behind the Dolphins for the top spot in the AFC East.
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers’ 3–1 start is a distant memory. They haven’t won in a month, with three losses and a bye week marring what was a hot start.

In a season of disappointments for the San Diego Padres, Juan Soto was one of the team’s few bright spots.
Soto started slow in 2023, but went on a tear for most of the final two months of the season, hitting 10 home runs in September and October alone. With Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Xander Bogaerts all well below their career norms, Soto set a career high with 35 homers en route to a 5.5 win season.
So it’s a bit surprising to see a new report from Kevin Acee at the San Diego Union-Tribune saying that manager Bob Melvin wanted to trade Soto last season.

With under 90 seconds to go in the Bucks’ 118–117 win over the 76ers in their season opener, Milwaukee was reeling after seven straight points from Philly had cut the lead to two. Over their last few possessions, the Bucks had gotten bogged down in the half court, an all too familiar sight.
What happened next was brand new: Damian Lillard bailed them out.
Matched up one-on-one with Kelly Oubre Jr.

Josh Allen used his legs to pick up the first touchdown in the Bills’ clash against the Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football.
After dropping back to pass, Allen burst forward with the football before making a sharp cut to avoid some Tampa Bay defenders. As Buffalo’s quarterback extended his arm and the football over the goal line, he appeared to be coldly staring down cornerback Jamel Dean.
Despite a pair of defenders breathing down his neck, Allen seemingly had no worries about possibly coughing up the football as he stared straight at Dean while crossing into the end zone.
