Iowa’s women’s basketball team packed the university’s football stadium, Kinnick Stadium, on Sunday for its exhibition game vs. DePaul.
As of Thursday, the Hawkeyes sold over 52,000 tickets to the event, which is over three times the amount that can fit in the Carver-Hawkeye Arena (capacity 15,500).
Seeing the college football stadium with a basketball court on the field, filled with Hawkeyes fans in the stands was quite the sight. The stadium wasn’t fully sold out as the court was placed on just one end zone, making it hard to see the game from the other side of the field.

The Patriots (1-4) and Raiders (2-3) are squaring off today in Las Vegas for a matchup between two struggling teams that are both under. 500 and heading in the wrong direction as the 2023 NFL season progresses.
Fans watching today’s game on CBS might be wondering one thing—why in the world are Jim Nantz and Tony Romo, the network’s lead broadcast team, on the call for this one?
The answer has to do with this year’s Super Bowl, which probably won’t feature either of these teams but will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi explains how he wants the rest of the season to unfold for Bill Belichick.
You don’t see this penalty every day …
This football weekend has treated fans to some rarely-seen penalties.
One such penalty came from the slate of college games on Saturday. In the tilt between Georgia and Vanderbilt the Bulldogs offense ran a designed running play for tight end Brock Bowers. Not only was the talented TE injured on the play, but quarterback Carson Beck, who was one of his lead blockers on the play, was flagged for a holding penalty.
The Koepka brothers experienced a wildly contrasting final day of the individual LIV Golf season with one winning £6.5million – and the other being relegated from the Saudi-funded league.
Forty names, games, teams and minutiae making news in college football, where Dan Lanning is betting his car can go another 45 miles even though the gas gauge says his range is 30:
First Quarter: The Remaining Unbeatens, Ranked
We are down to a final 11 undefeated teams, but for purposes of this exercise we are calling it 10 because James Madison is ineligible for the Sun Belt Conference title as a transitioning program from FCS. (Sorry, Dukes, The Dash doesn’t make the rules.) So let’s rank them based on what we’ve seen so far.
Florida State (1). Record: 6–0.
Last week began with Bill Belichick promising the team was going to try to correct a season gone awry by “starting over.” And that has led to a new quarterback emerging for the New England Patriots.
Meet Malik Cunningham.
College quarterback at Louisville.
Converted to wide receiver with the Patriots.
And now he’s back at QB as the backup to Mac Jones.

Bears quarterback Justin Fields exited Week 6’s game against the Vikings with a hand injury and was later ruled out by the team. The exact nature of the injury is unknown at this time.
While scrambling to his left during the third quarter, Fields was sacked from behind by outside linebacker Danielle Hunter and appeared to land on his right hand. Fields was seen holding his hand afterward while gingerly walking back to the locker room with trainers. His day ends with 58 passing yards and one interception after completing 6-of-10 pass attempts.
The 76ers apparently know who and what they want in exchange for James Harden in order to facilitate a trade that gets him to his desired destination, the Clippers.
The problem? Los Angeles is reportedly unwilling to make that deal. Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Sixers want a package that includes Terance Mann and first-round picks. But the Clippers view Mann as an “untouchable” player in trade conversations, per Pompey, which Philadelphia president of basketball operations apparently knows.
Per Pompey:
The Clippers want to get a deal done soon.
Former Patriots receiver Julian Edelman shared a memorable story about meeting 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan during Week 6’s Fox NFL Kickoff pregame show. During a segment in which the panelists each named the coach doing the best job thus far, Edelman highlighted Shanahan.
Good choice, right? The 49ers might be the best team in football. But Edelman recounted the coach’s love for football with an unusual anecdote. The 11-year pro couldn’t play with the Patriots in Super Bowl LII due to a torn ACL but was at the game as a spectator.
