Cam Whitmore’s big dunk that didn’t count is another example of why the NBA needs to change the charge rules.
Cam Whitmore was widely projected as a top-10 pick coming into the 2023 NBA Draft. The Houston Rockets reportedly considered taking him at No. 4 overall before going with Amen Thompson instead. When the Rockets came on the clock again at No. 20, they couldn’t believe Whitmore was still available and rushed to select him.
We rated Whitmore as a top-five overall prospect in the class coming into the draft because of his absurd combination of power and explosiveness.

That’s what New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh is screaming these days after his boisterous and semi-annoying personality has once again gotten the best of him with opponents complaining about the third-year coach’s success.
Just minutes after the Jets pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the NFL season by defeating an undefeated Eagles team, Eagles pre and post game broadcaster, Michael Harkann, informed the audience that he’s not that big of a fan of the Jets head coach.
“I can’t stand that guy… I’m just saying,” Harkann began.
The Broncos’ season is off to such a rough start that they’ve become the subject of a wild—albeit unlikely—rumor that would significantly alter the team.
ESPN’s Pat McAfee floated the possibility that the Broncos could fire defensive coordinator Vance Joseph and replace him with former Jets and Bills coach Rex Ryan during this season on Monday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show. However, when the network’s foremost NFL reporter, Adam Schefter, joined the show, he denied that Ryan will leave ESPN for Denver midseason.
“Rex is not going to Denver right now,” Schefter said.
Good morning, I’m Dan Gartland. No one is going to beat the Phillies if they keep hitting home runs like that.

The Astros are in trouble
The Rangers are taking a 2–0 lead back to Arlington after holding on to beat the Astros, 5–4, in Game 2 of the ALCS yesterday in Houston.
The story was the same as it was in Game 1, as Texas got enough length from its starting pitcher to limit what its shaky bullpen was asked to do.
We had a great week for the OutKick Six Pack, going 5-1 to run our season record out to 25-22 on the year.
Yep, back in positive gambling territory after a rough start to the year. As always, #respectthepicks
You can see my analysis for all of these bets and for our college football picks — we went 9-5 last week — on “The Fade,” with Kelly in Vegas. Until then let’s get rolling with another winning week.
Jags +3 at the Saints
I just think the Jags are the better team playing at a higher level right now than the Saints are.
It goes without saying that landing star guard Damian Lillard raises the stakes for the Bucks, who, with a pair of 30-point-per-game scorers, arguably boast the NBA’s most potent 1-2 punch.
But acknowledging that is different from saying the trade alone guarantees a smooth ride, particularly early on. This new-look Milwaukee club, which features a new coach in Adrian Griffin and two new starters, may take time to figure out how to implement a handful of things.
Of course, the biggest shift—Lillard supercharging the offense alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo—may not take all that long.
Tyreek Hill’s lofty preseason goals are within reach. The Dolphins speedster proclaimed he’d eclipse 2,000 receiving yards before the season started and he’s on pace to do just that and more.
After another electrifying performance in Week 6, Hill has tallied 42 catches for 814 yards and six touchdowns through six games. If he were to keep this pace for the rest of the season, he’d finish with 119 catches for 2,306 yards—making him the first player in NFL history to eclipse 2,000 receiving yards.
Before he even set foot on the field in 2023, he predicted this July.
Now Ben Simmons is with you FOREVER.
There are a lot of bad tattoos out in the world. Drunken late-night decisions, the names of ex partners, this tattoo of Lionel Messi that makes him look like a water-loving alien elf — but getting a chest tattoo of Ben Simmons might take the cake. On Monday night a star-struck fan gleefully showed Simmons his ink, and the Nets guard was blown away someone actually did this.
This fan has a @BenSimmons25 tattoo pic.twitter.
Here we go, a run toward the college football playoffs is at-stake this weekend between Ohio State-Penn State, while Tennessee looks for its second straight win against Alabama. A Pac-12 battle between USC and Utah could decide the Trojans’ season.
Congratulations, you’ve made it to the middle of October, and for some of your favorite teams, this is a crucial weekend.
Luckily for us, there are three games this weekend that could determine who potentially plays for a conference title.
That’s how you win over a fanbase.
Patrick Beverley is an instigator. Philadelphia is a city full of instigators when it comes to their sports fans. That’s why when the 76ers signed the 35-year-old guard to a one-year deal over the offseason, it felt like a perfect match. It’s only taken a few preseason games to hammer home that point even more.
As the Sixers beat the Nets, 127-119, in preseason action on Monday night, Beverley was ejected for doing what he does best: being a pest.
