Diamondbacks radio announcers Greg Schulte and Tom Candiotti are good at their jobs. But Arizona fans might have been annoyed this just how good they were on Monday night.
Schulte and Candiotti were on the call for Game 2 of the NLCS in Philadelphia, and as Arizona starter Zac Gallen threw his final warmup pitches, the broadcast duo was talking about Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber’s penchant for hitting leadoff homers.

Welcome to Week 7 of the fantasy football season! Also known as, “bye-mageddon!”
That’s right, there are six teams on a bye: Carolina, Cincinnati, Dallas, Houston, New York Jets and Tennessee. That makes the rankings even more important, and we’re here to help with my initial fantasy player lists! I’ve used a full-point PPR scoring system, which you can use in coordination with the Week 7 edition of Start Em, Sit Em. At Sports Illustrated, we always have you covered!
At the quarterback position, Sam Howell makes a big move up into the top 12.
1. If you’ve been a reader of mine since the old “Hot Clicks” days, you know I have a soft spot for local news because oftentimes it’s a trainwreck.
And I don’t mean that in a negative way. I mean that more in a, “”you never know what you’re going to get with local news” way.
I say all this to set up what happened Tuesday on Phoenix’s Fox 10 when the local anchors threw it to a reporter in Philadelphia covering Game 2 of the Diamondbacks-Phillies NLCS. Here’s how the exchange went down:

Dabo Swinney hasn’t made many headlines during the 2023 season that would cause fans to show emotion for his Clemson football team. But that all changed Monday night. At the core of his comments about the unrest on social media from a small percentage of fans lies the fear of being passed by.
Lets face it, we’re in a new era of college football, not the one that saw Clemson taking most of the headlines. What was once a program talked about on a weekly basis, we’re now bearing witness to the potential of getting lost in the fray.

It is early but we might have the NHL goal of the year already
It is not even Halloween, but we might already have the Goal of the Year in the NHL.
The Edmonton Oilers blasted the Nashville Predators 6-1 on Tuesday night, putting four in the net in the first period en route to the victory. All-Everything center Connor McDavid notched a goal and an assist in the win, and his first period goal still has our heads spinning.
Literally.

This Bears center blocking ghosts sums up Chicago’s season in one play
The Chicago Bears are a mess, to say the least. With one win as we get closer to the midpoint of the season. Everything is bad for Chicago, but they’re perhaps even worse along the offensive line. Due to both poor play and injuries the offensive line has been really bad, and on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings they had one of their worst games of the year. Center Cody Whitehair was especially poor, firing multiple bad snaps before ultimately being benched in favor of Lucas Patrick.
Good morning, I’m Dan Gartland. I spent yesterday afternoon at the Texas State Fair, which should be on everyone’s bucket list.
In today’s SI:AM:
The Phillies go up 2–0
The NFL’s new most popular team
The NBA’s five best two-guards
They look unbeatable
The Phillies are on a tear. After last night’s 10–0 win, Philadelphia holds a commanding 2–0 lead over the Diamondbacks in the NLCS as the series shifts to Arizona tomorrow.
The NFL is considering a ban on two types of plays that have been highly scrutinized during the 2023 season thus far. During the league’s owners meetings in New York this week, the “hip drop” tackle and Tush Push quarterback sneak have been high among the topics of discussion.
Due to the potential for serious injury, the “hip drop” appears to be a priority for league executives to address, according to the Associated Press. Research conducted by the NFL says that hip drop tackles increase the risk of injury by 25-times over a regular tackle.
The Phillies beat up the Diamondbacks on Tuesday night, winning Game 2 of the NLCS 10–0 to take a 2–0 lead in the series.
The Phillies once again benefited from the long ball, as they hit three home runs in the victory. Trea Turner, who’s in his first year with the franchise, hit one of those dingers but something he did on the bases during the win got even more attention from fans.
