Our experts pick the East, West, NBA Finals and more.
You know you’ve made it as a national story when you get parodied on Saturday Night Live.
Colorado football has been precisely that this season, crossing over to the broader pop culture landscape in a way no college team has in years. The Buffaloes’ rollercoaster of a season has helped: Colorado started 3–0, lost back-to-back games to highly ranked teams, scored a last-minute victory over Arizona State, and blew a 29-point lead in a loss to Stanford.
Let’s rank every team in the NBA by their championship chances for the 2023-2024 season.
The NBA always feels like it’s at its best when there’s an elite tier of contenders. After two blockbuster trades to close the summer, it finally feels like that’s the case as the league enters the 2023-2024 season.
The Bucks have added Damian Lillard to fix a struggling halfcourt offense in the playoffs. The Celtics responded by trading for Jrue Holiday to help keep Lillard in check. In the West, the Suns reloaded with a bold move for Bradley Beal and overhauled depth.
For the last few seasons, New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin has had one of the greatest heads of hair in hockey. So, he shocked a lot of people when he decided to shear off his famous crop of head lettuce.
That includes his wife, who reportedly heard this news over Facetime.
While a lot of people assumed that Panarin went with the Jason Statham do to rid himself of the bad juju that plagued him in the Blueshirts’ playoff series with the New Jersey Devils last season, The New York Post reports that this isn’t the case.
With a new NBA season tipping off, some teams are embracing new super duos or super trios, the whole league is getting ready for a European-style in-season tournament and Jimmy Butler remains as confident as ever.
We have plenty of questions that need answering between now and next summer, including who will win the top individual awards.
As long as Jokić remains a triple-double machine, he’ll always be in the MVP conversation.
1. Watching Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning and future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers watch Kirk Cousins play Monday night was quite an experience.
Rodgers was a guest on the ManningCast in the second quarterback when Cousins missed an easy touchdown pass to a wide-open receiver. Peyton was apoplectic, while Rodgers couldn’t hide his frustration, either.
This has to be the coolest shit ever, 3 HOF watching this play develop knowing that the guy is open, and the reaction when it’s incomplete.
Take one look at Warriors guard Chris Paul’s career statistics, and two numbers immediately stick out: 1,214 games played, 1,214 games started across an illustrious 18-year career.
Even Lakers forward LeBron James—a frequent comparison point for Paul in terms of sheer durability—has come off the bench twice in his NBA career.
However, Paul’s remarkable run of starting lineup appearances may be coming to a close, as Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Tuesday morning that “there is a level of momentum of [Paul] coming off the bench” with Golden State.
Terry Bradshaw just made himself a bunch of new enemies.
During Monday’s edition of The Herd with Colin Cowherd on FS1, the topic of discussion turned to the NFL season’s most important storyline: Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s romance with Taylor Swift.
“Terry, she sings for three hours,” Cowherd said, referring to Swift’s marathon “Eras Tour” set. “How do you sing for three hours?”
Bradshaw responded by suggesting that perhaps Swift wasn’t actually singing the whole time.
“Well maybe you don’t [sing the whole time],” Bradshaw said.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney apologized Sunday for an insensitive joke he made following the team’s Saturday loss to Miami. After the game this weekend, a reporter asked Swinney if the team has ever employed sports psychologists to help players during a slump like this and Swinney just laughed before making the comment.
“We got him. He’s probably on suicide watch right now,” Swinney said Saturday.
The Tigers are uncharacteristically 4–3 to start the year and lost to the Hurricanes in double overtime—prompting the question regarding the mental health of his players.
