Former President Donald Trump called it almost one year ago to the date, but even he couldn’t have foreseen it coming out of nowhere like it did. The merger was mind-blowing, especially considering the amount of hate between the two sides.

In a historic move, Missouri has hired Kerrick Jackson as its new head baseball coach, the school announced Saturday. Jackson becomes the first Black head coach in SEC baseball history.
“We set out to find a leader of high character with success rejuvenating a program, and we certainly found that in Kerrick Jackson,” Missouri athletic director Desireé Reed-Francois wrote in a statement. “He’s a tireless recruiter, fierce competitor and a coach with deep roots in the Midwest. Coach Jackson knows what success looks like in college baseball, specifically at Mizzou.

An MRI on Tuesday revealed that the right-handed ace partially tore his ulnar collateral ligament. Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reported deGrom will undergo Tommy John surgery next week and is projected to be out until the middle of the 2024 season.
“This stinks,” deGrom said, per Grant. “It’s not ideal. But at least we know what it is now. I want to get it fixed and will set a goal to be back before the end of next year.

Indiana baseball lost the Lexington Regional final to Kentucky on Monday afternoon. As a result, the Hoosiers had their season come to an end, while the Wildcats advanced to a Super Regional next weekend.

Perhaps Indiana’s living arrangements factored into its struggles down the stretch. Perhaps it would have won the Regional in the first game of the two-game Final on Sunday if starting second baseman Tyler Cerny had played.
