In the aftermath of its best season in decades, Marquette has locked down its coach for the foreseeable future.
Golden Eagles coach Shaka Smart has agreed to a contract extension through the 2030 season, Marquette’s athletic department announced in a Tuesday afternoon release. The deal adds three seasons to the six-year contract Smart signed upon his hiring in March 2021.
“My family and I are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to be part of the Marquette community, where relationships, growth and victory truly matter,” Smart said in the university’s release.

The series may be tied 1-1, but Denver’s seen a troubling trend in the NBA Finals so far — the Nuggets can’t contain Miami in the 4th quarter.
After 20 years of elite performances, it’s still not hard to argue that some of LeBron James’s best years in the NBA took place in a Heat uniform. The 19-time All-Star led the franchise to four consecutive NBA Finals appearances and two NBA titles from 2011 to ’14, etching his name among the best players to ever come through Miami.
The stop with the Heat is just a small part of James’s legacy, as the 38-year-old has gone on to enter his name in the conversation among the greatest of all time in the sport.
The PGA Tour-LIV Golf merger came as a shock to many people. One of the main reasons is because of PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan. Monahan heavily criticized LIV Golf and players who defected. He invoked victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks as why players should not support LIV Golf.
On June 12, 2022, Monahan appeared on a PGA Tour broadcast on CBS with Jim Nantz. Nantz asked him about a letter sent from the 9/11 Families United to representatives of LIV Golf defectors Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and others.
Alek Manoah has been terrible in 2023, but his outing on Monday was the straw that broke the camel’s back. The 2022 All-Star was sent down by the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday afternoon.
Manoah, 25, sported a 3.22 ERA in 20 starts as a rookie in 2021, but really found his groove in year two. He won 16 of his 31 starts and struck out 180 batters with an ERA of just 2.24.
Manoah’s stuff was nasty.

The 9/11 Families United organization slammed the PGA Tour for merging with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf.
The 9/11 Families United, a community of family members who lost loved ones in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, slammed the PGA Tour and Commissioner Jay Monahan for striking a partnership deal with the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF).
The Karim Benzema transfer saga has come to a brief but lucrative end.
Just days after disavowing reports that he was set to leave Real Madrid for Saudi Arabia, the French forward has officially joined Saudi Pro League champion Al-Ittihad in a blockbuster deal.
According to ESPN, the 35-year-old was offered a two-year, €400 million ($427.8 million) to rebuff a chance at another year with Real Madrid.
“I am excited to experience a new football league in a different country.
Stephen A. Smith became the latest major sports personality to weigh in on the merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf on Tuesday’s episode of First Take.
While many have criticized the controversial move, Smith took the opposite stance, praising PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan for the decision.
“I love it,” Smith said. “I want to take a moment to do something I never thought I’d do on national television, and that’s give PGA commissioner Jay Monahan some love and some credit here. This is smart business on his part, make no mistake about it.”

Whether you want to call it good intuition or just a father looking after his kid, Aaron Murray received some pretty solid advice from his dad on a recruiting trip to Florida. The advice: Stay away from Aaron Hernandez if you commit.
The five-star quarterback took a visit to Gainesville during his crazy recruitment in 2008-2009, looking to narrow down his choices. Murray ended up signing with the Georgia Bulldogs, but that wasn’t the wildest part of his story in the SEC.
