Al Michaels is famous for a lot of things. He delivered the iconic “Do you believe in miracles?” call at the 1980 Winter Olympics. He’s called World Series, Super Bowls and NBA Finals as one of the most prominent voices in American sports over the past five decades. But he’s also famous for one very peculiar dietary hangup.
Michaels does not eat vegetables. Or, to be more precise, he claims to have never eaten a vegetable.
“If I died right now, I might be the human being who lived the longest without ever eating a vegetable,” Michaels told The New York Times in 2012.

Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore enjoyed a career night against the Commanders on Thursday evening, burning Washington for 230 yards and three touchdowns on eight catches in a 40-20 victory.
However, Moore’s final stat line easily could have been even more imposing. He was controversially ruled out of bounds on a 32-yard reception late in the third quarter, after which Chicago was forced to settle for a field goal to go up 30-14.
Amazon made headlines in media circles for seemingly overlooking the questionable aspect of the play, never showing a clear replay of Moore’s catch.
Western Kentucky linebacker Bryson Washington had a great game cut short Thursday night after a celebration went horribly wrong.
After making a tackle against Louisiana Tech, Washington jumped in the air to celebrate, but an awkward landing sent him limping off the field.
It did not look great.

The Hilltoppers linebacker would not return to the game, which Western Kentucky held on to win 35-28.
The former Steeler was in Chicago for less than a year after the team traded for him in November 2022.
Chase Claypool’s brief, yet tumultuous, tenure with the Bears has come to an end.
Chicago is trading Claypool to the Dolphins, the teams announced Friday. The Bears will send a seventh-round pick in 2025 to Miami to offload the 25-year-old receiver while acquiring a 2025 sixth-round pick in return.
The relationship between Claypool and the Bears reached a tipping point over the past week when the former Steelers wideout said that the team’s game plan didn’t allow him to show the best of his abilities.
It would’ve been easy for Donna Kelce—former Ohio bank executive and mother of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Eagles center Jason Kelce—to spare no detail of her younger son’s reported relationship with musician Taylor Swift on NBC’s Today show Friday morning.
However, in a champion move, Donna was largely mum—humorously approaching the situation with Midwestern understatement.
“It’s fairly new. I don’t like to talk about it,” Donna told Today‘s hosts. “It’s one of those things where obviously everybody saw me. I was in the box with her.
Mel Tucker did not show up for the hearing at Michigan State on Thursday, but his attorneys made their presence known minutes after it began.
After attorney Jennifer Belveal released an eight-page letter that contained almost 100 pages of alleged text message attachments from Brenda Tracy, it’s clear Tucker is ready for a fight inside a courtroom.
This was destined to be the case for the former Michigan State head football coach, who felt as if the school launched this investigation as a way out of his massive contract.
After a mixed performance in five games for Pitt this season, Panthers quarterback Phil Jurkovec appears primed to try something new.
Jurkovec is making a midseason position switch from quarterback to tight end, according to a Thursday evening report from Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Per Hiles, Jurkovec informed teammates of the change Wednesday morning and began running routes with the other tight ends a day later.
In five games under center this season, Jurkovec has completed 50.9 percent of his passes for 818 yards with six touchdown passes and three interceptions.
Good morning, I’m Dan Gartland. Congratulations to the Bears for finally looking like a competent NFL team.

Tomorrow marks the end of an era for one of the best rivalries in college football. Saturday afternoon’s Texas-Oklahoma game will be the final one played under the Big 12 banner, with both schools set to join the SEC next year. It’s also their most high-profile regular-season meeting in more than a decade.
Commanders limited partner Magic Johnson delivered a harsh criticism of his new team following a 20-point loss to the previously winless Bears on Thursday night.
