ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith delivered a fuming rant about Colorado’s embarrassing 46-43 overtime loss to Stanford after the Buffaloes held a 29-point lead at halftime of Friday’s Pac-12 battle.
Stanford, who entered the game against Colorado as a 13-point underdog, outscored Colorado 36-7 in the second half and handed Deion Sanders’s squad its third loss in four games. The Buffaloes recorded their biggest blown lead in program history.

The PGA Tour staged 54 official events during the 2022-23 season. With the year drawing to a close, which event is your favorite?
The PGA Tour is essentially a traveling circus.
It traverses to a different city each week, partners with various organizations, and each tournament has a distinct feature that makes it unique.
Take the Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas, for instance, which is one of my favorite events on the PGA Tour calendar.
The Jets picked up their first win of the season on Saturday against the Panthers, 6–4, and the best goal of the night had to have been the one that Mason Appleton scored late in the third period.
With just under six minutes to play, Winnipeg had a two-goal lead as Florida went on the power play. But the Jets quickly put the game all but out of reach with a spectacular short-handed goal.
The play started with Winnipeg’s Adam Lowry forcing a turnover in the defensive zone, leading to a two-on-one opportunity for the Jets.
Damian Lillard’s talents extend beyond the basketball court, as the Bucks star has enjoyed success as a rapper, and he apparently nearly featured ESPN analyst Doris Burke on one of his songs—until her verse got cut.
Burke detailed her short-lived career as a rapper during Milwaukee’s preseason game against the Lakers on Sunday night.
“Do you know I once got cut from a Damian Lillard track? I kid you not. He had me record lines. I didn’t make it. Not surprised,” Burke said with a laugh.
ESPN tasked longtime bigot Mark Jones to call the Colorado-Stanford game last Friday, during which he fawned over Deion Sanders for being a black coach.
Like the last time he called a Colorado matchup, Jones randomly referenced, sang, and danced to rap songs in the booth.
Mark Jones is, by definition, a clown.
His antics are cringe. They distract from the game at hand, the cardinal sin of a play-by-play commentator.
He is also a second-tier broadcaster often stumbling upon his words and crediting the wrong player for plays. (Shedeur Sanders doesn’t play defense, Mark.
There’s a shakeup happening in WWE leadership. Vince McMahon has stepped down as CEO to take on a new role as the company’s executive chairman. So Paul Levesque — better known as Triple H — will now have full control as WWE’s Head of Creative.
Last month, the merger between WWE and UFC was completed — all under the umbrella of the Endeavor Group. Combined, the new company is now worth more than $21.4 billion, with UFC valued at $12.1 billion and WWE at $9.3 billion.
The Marlins announced Monday that general manager Kim Ng would not return in 2024.
The club decided to exercise its half of the mutual option in her contract, but Ng declined to exercise hers, allowing the executive to pursue other opportunities.
Ng led the Marlins for three seasons—overseeing the team as it clawed its way out of mediocrity to become a playoff team. Before coming to Miami, she had decades of experience in the game, including as senior vice president of baseball operations for the commissioner’s office and as an assistant GM with the Yankees and the Dodgers.
There was a shot during Sunday’s Seahawks-Bengals broadcast on CBS that Joe Burrow would have no idea the cameras caught, a few ticks after he found rookie Andrei Iosivas scored his first career touchdown to give Cincinnati a 14–7 lead with 12:20 left in the second quarter.
Burrow had jogged over to Bengals coach Zac Taylor when it hit him. Out of seemingly nowhere, he planted his foot, and ran to a member of the officiating crew wearing a black vest and handling the footballs. The official saw Burrow and pointed to the end zone, where a ball was sitting on the turf.
Georgia tight end Brock Bowers will undergo surgery on his injured left ankle and will be out for three to six weeks, the school announced Monday. Bowers is widely considered to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
Bowers left Saturday’s game at Vanderbilt with a high ankle sprain in the second quarter, and he’ll undergo surgery Monday in order to stabilize it. The junior was named first-team All-America last season, recording 63 catches for 942 yards and seven touchdowns.
