Sometimes stuff works out for everybody and that’s what it looks like in the NFL Wednesday morning after the Los Angeles Chargers traded J.C. Jackson to the New England Patriots.
The trade, confirmed by a source, is contingent on Jackson passing his physical in New England. It will send the cornerback back to the team for which he collected 25 interceptions over four seasons at the start of his career.
Jackson left the Patriots in 2022, signing with the Chargers as a free agent, but that hasn’t gone very well.

The Tampa Bay Rays fanbase continue to find ways to impress.
While Yankees and Mets fans would do anything to have their teams be in this year’s MLB postseason, Tampa fans are telling them to ‘hold their beer,’ and not even bothering to show up to their games.

Here’s some perspective on today’s attendance of 19,704 at the Trop: according to @Stathead, it’s the lowest (non-Covid year) attendance for a postseason game in 104 years. Last one below 19,704 was Game 7 of the infamous 1919 World Series in Cincinnati.

It’s all love between star Timberwolves wing Anthony Edwards and his teammate Rudy Gobert.
Gobert has been reportedly working on adding range to his game offensively, as he tries to evolve from a traditional back-to-the-basket, rim-protecting big man.
That doesn’t mean that Edwards thinks Gobert should take a bunch of long twos, or threes, for that matter. The center has taken 14 three-pointers during his 10 NBA seasons, missing all of them.
“Hey, record that today. Mark that today. October 3rd, Tuesday in Abu Dhabi.

Landon Donovan was the face of American soccer for much of the 2000s, scoring 57 goals as the forward shepherded the United States through its longest period of sustained success in the world’s game.
However, the man for whom the MLS’s MVP award is named after remains modest about his achievements. When asked by SI to pick his four greatest American soccer players, the Ontario, Calif. native declined to select himself.
“I would say Mia Hamm, (Clint) Dempsey, Tim Howard and DaMarcus Beasley,” Donovan said.

This is gross.
One of the most stunning and disgusting sports stories this summer was Michael Oher finding out he wasn’t actually adopted by the Tuohy family, a central theme of the hit book and movie The Blind Side. The deception went a step further, with Oher taking the family to court and revealing he was put under a conservatorship he signed without fully understanding it as an 18-year-old, which allowed the family to make millions in royalties off the movie — while Oher made nothing.

1. The Twins won a playoff game Tuesday for the first time since Oct. 5, 2004. The 19-year drought included an 18-game losing streak that was snapped with Minnesota’s 3–1 victory against the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the wild-card round.
As you would expect, Twins fans were more than ready to celebrate a postseason victory. And celebrate they did. When Minnesota’s Fox 9 newscast threw to reporter Jim Rich on the scene at Target Field after the game, we were treated to a classic local news moment as ecstatic fans bombarded Rich.

With NBA training camps in full swing and preseason basketball just around the corner, much has been made of Chris Paul’s fit with the Warriors as he takes the floor with his new team this fall.
Paul, a traditional pick-and-roll player, is joining a wide open, spread three-point shooting offense in Golden State. Because of the perceived imperfect fit offensively, many wondered if Paul would start, or simply lead the second unit for the Warriors.

Phoenix Suns player Jusuf Nurkic isn’t a fan of Americans owning guns.
Owning firearms is enshrined in the Bill of Rights with the Second Amendment, and the United States of America has a very proud gun culture.
At the same time, the issue is incredibly divisive. Some people love the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms, and some people absolutely despise the fact regular citizens have access to firearms.
The Suns center from Bosnia and Herzegovina definitely falls in the latter category, judging from some comments made Monday.
Jusuf Nurkic complains about Americans owning guns.
