The star point guard requested a trade from the franchise Friday.
Amid Kyrie Irving’s trade request from the Nets, Brooklyn plans on holding the star point guard out of games ahead of the NBA’s trade deadline on Feb. 9, Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes reports.
Irving reportedly told the Nets on Friday that he wanted to be traded after negotiations between the two sides over a new contract broke down. Irving did not play in the Nets’ 125-123 win over the Wizards on Saturday night due to, what Brooklyn listed as, right calf soreness.

The point guard left Saturday’s game against Dallas with the injury.
Warriors guard Stephen Curry left Saturday night’s game against the Mavericks in the third quarter with a leg injury and did not return. Even without Curry to end the game, Golden State defeated Dallas, 119-113, to get within a half game of Dallas for the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference.
The point guard was defending Dallas guard McKinley Wright IV when their knees collided on a Wright drive to the basket.
X-rays on Curry’s left leg came back negative, and he was set to get an MRI after the game.

Former NFL defensive back Vontae Davis was arrested in South Florida on Saturday. The 34-year-old was arrested by Florida Highway Patrol for driving under the influence, which was his first offense.
Vontae Davis was arrested in Florida.
According to FoxSports640 radio host Andy Slater, based out of Miami, police found the two-time Pro Bowler and first round NFL Draft pick on the shoulder of the road. Davis was lying down sleeping.
Per Slater’s report, Davis allegedly crashed into a car that sat disabled on the side of the road.

Duke won its first matchup against North Carolina since Mike Krzyzewski retired on Saturday night, and even though both teams were unranked, the game still had the juice of a legendary rivalry.
While the 63-57 win gave Duke a big ACC win, it may have been more important for the Blue Devils to get back at UNC for how last season ended. The Tar Heels won Krzyzewski’s final home game at Cameron Indoor Stadium, then triumphed again when the two met in the Final Four for the first time ever.

Aubrey Miller Jr. is of the many players who saw their NFL Draft stock rise during the Reese’s Senior Bowl. The Jackson State linebacker, who played first three seasons at Missouri, put on a show all week.
At 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, the former four-star recruit joined Deion Sanders in Mississippi during the 2021 offseason. In his two years with the Tigers, Miller was twice named First-Team All-SWAC and put himself on the map as one of the top tacklers in the country.
