Jalen Rose is no stranger to saying really stupid things on television. And on Twitter. Usually, though, he plays the race card. On Saturday, he decided to blame South Florida weather for the New York Knicks getting pounded by the Miami Heat.
Except NBA games are played indoors. In climate-controlled arenas. I’d be willing to bet no Knicks player spent more than 15 minutes outside prior to their blowout loss against Miami.

The postseason, fair or unfair, is calcifying for star players. The playoffs are when reputations, both good and bad, are earned. A big game or even a big shot in the right moment can cement a legend forever. Put up enough duds in high-leverage moments and it could take years to repair how you’re viewed by the general public. As Draymond Green told Warriors GM Bob Myers, there are 82-game players and then there are 16-game players.
And right now, Julius Randle is looking like an 82-game player.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton created a buzz with his arrival at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday.
Hamilton showed up in a sparkly, purple jumpsuit covered in sequins while sporting sunglasses as he walked to his camp at Hard Rock Stadium. Because of the wide bottoms, some fans compared his outfit to a shimmering trash bag.
The 35-year-old is known for wearing stylish outfits ahead of races. He also wore a lustrous outfit ahead of Friday’s practice. The dark green jacket and pants sparkled in the sun as he walked to his camp.

Vida Blue, a former AL Cy Young winner and MVP, has died at the age of 73, the Athletics announced Sunday morning. Fellow Oakland legend Dave Stewart first revealed the news on Twitter.
“Vida Blue rest in peace, my mentor, hero, and friend,” Stewart wrote. “I remember watching a 19 year old phenom dominate baseball, and at the same time alter my life. There are no words for what you have meant to me and so many others.”
Blue first came up with the Athletics in 1969 and spent nine seasons in Oakland. His 1971 season was spectacular, as he led the league with a 1.

UFC fighter Tony Ferguson was busted for DUI early Sunday morning in Los Angeles.
Ferguson reportedly crashed his pickup truck into two parked cars outside a Hollywood club just before 2 a.m. His truck flipped on its side.
Luckily, no one was injured.

Police said Ferguson refused to take a field sobriety test and was “very uncooperative” at the scene.

Hours after his son declared for college, LeBron James let it be known again he would like Bronny to join him in the league.

LeBron James has enjoyed his fair share of playoff experiences, with 16 trips to the postseason during a storied 20-year NBA career.
But some of James’s Lakers teammates have far less postseason seasoning. For example, Austin Reaves and Mo Bamba are in the playoffs for the first time this season.
After Saturday’s Game 3 win over the Warriors, James was asked how his teammates can stay focused amid increased scrutiny during the playoffs, especially when additional days off means more time for the media to obsess over storylines.

Nick Gilbert, the son of Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, passed away on Saturday. A funeral service for the 26-year-old will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m. at the Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan.
Gilbert, who was known for his bowties, suffered from neurofibromatosis. The genetic disorder causes tumors to grow on nerve pathways throughout the body and does not have a known cure.
In addition to his incredible fashion sense, Gilbert was known to bring good luck to the Cavaliers as the team’s representative during NBA Draft lotteries.
