It was no secret that the Colts needed to select a quarterback in this year’s NFL draft.
However, up until the final moments of the team’s selection, there was a concern about whether or not Indianapolis would be able to select the signal-caller it wanted to join the franchise. When the Cardinals announced the trade of their No. 3 pick in the first round, Colts general manager Chris Ballard was among those experiencing a whirlwind of emotions inside the franchise’s war room.

The Lakers and Warriors will face off in Game 2 of their second-round series Thursday night in San Francisco, with Stephen Curry and Co. desperately needing a win to even things up before the series shifts to Los Angeles.
Speaking of Curry, this latest postseason showdown with LeBron James has all the makings of being another classic between two of the best players to ever play the game.
It has also opened up some wild arguments. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said that if Curry is able to win another title then you might have to take James off the Mount Rushmore of basketball.
The Kentucky men’s basketball team has not lived up to its standard over the past few seasons. Since reaching the Elite Eight in 2019, John Calipari’s team hasn’t reached the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament.
As a six-seed this season, the Wildcats beat #11 Providence in the first round before losing to eventual Final Four finisher #3 Kansas State.
In 2022, #2 Kentucky lost in the first round to cinderella #15 St. Peter’s. The Wildcats missed the 2021 tournament entirely.
Essentially, since COVID hit, Kentucky hasn’t been able to compete deep into the season.
A piece of the past is returning for pro wrestling collectibles.
Mattel, which is WWE’s primary action figure distributor, has seized hold of old-school nostalgia with a crowdfunding campaign. The toy giant is creating the WCW Nitro entrance stage, a spectacular tribute to WWE’s onetime rival.
The project began in October 2021. It features remarkable detail—right down to the distance between the arches—and immediately harkens back memories of Monday nights in the 1990s.
The Tampa Bay Rays are having fun playing baseball right now, and so is star shortstop Wander Franco.
And Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds may be one of the only people around the sport not enjoying it.
The Pirates were in Tampa to visit the Rays on Wednesday night, and with a five-run lead in the 7th inning, Wander Franco decided to have some fun.
Franco fielded a grounder hit by Reynolds and flipped the ball to himself before delivering a strike to first. Despite the extra flourish, Reynolds was still out by more than a step.

Maalik Murphy is slated to serve as the backup quarterback at Texas this fall. He will be listed behind Quinn Ewers on the depth chart, barring unforeseen changes over the next four months.
Murphy seems to be content in his current role, considering he reportedly turned down multiple offers to leave. The Longhorns’ NIL package also may have helped keep him in Austin.

At 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, Murphy was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2022 and committed to play for Steve Sarkisian in Austin more than a year before signing.
You can now add Jay Williams to the list of ESPN employees who are offended by Mount Rushmore. During Thursday’s edition of ‘First Take,’ Williams pleaded that we stop using the metaphor sports fans have been using for decades because it triggers him.
The Mount Rushmore talk started after Stephen A. Smith declared on Wednesday’s show that he would replace LeBron James on his Mount Rushmore of NBA greats with Steph Curry if Curry went on to win his fifth NBA championship this summer.
New details have emerged regarding Lamar Jackson’s record-breaking contract extension with the Ravens, which made him the highest-paid player in NFL history.
Jackson inked a five-year, $260 million contract extension with Baltimore last week, which includes $185 million in guaranteed money. However, there are also two additional clauses that are important to Jackson’s new deal.
Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported on Thursday that Jackson’s contract includes both a no-tag clause, as well as a no-trade clause.
Hunter Dickinson ended perhaps the highest-profile transfer portal recruitment ever when he committed to Kansas on Thursday. Dickinson’s recruitment took more than a month and included five visits, a rarity in the portal era. With so many other talented players already off the board and the transfer portal window closing in a week, where will the schools that came up short in the Dickinson sweepstakes turn now?
Here’s a look at where each finalist in the Dickinson lottery stands for the 2023–24 season.
