Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell was crushed on a late hit out of bounds by an Arizona Cardinals defender, a ref went down in the process, fists flew and so did the flags.

Howell, Washington’s second-year starter, rolled to his left deep on his side of the field and scrambled toward the bench. Seconds later, the Commanders’ QB was absolutely pummeled by Arizona’s Kyzir White. Howell flew into the ref, who went down like a bowling pin.

Calvin Ridley appeared in his first regular season game in almost two years and put on a clinic in his new team’s very first drive on Sunday as the NFL season kicked off. 
Ridley last played on Oct. 2024, 2021, while with the Falcons before he stepped away from football for personal reasons and was then dealt a year-long suspension for violating the NFL’s gambling policy. Subsequently, the Jaguars traded for the young wideout and it appears their decision is immediately paying dividends.

Bijan Robinson’s first touchdown was beautiful.
Running backs are supposed to be losing value in today’s NFL, but the Atlanta Falcons still selected Texas RB Bijan Robinson with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Robinson can do it all out of the backfield, and it didn’t take him long to prove it in his pro debut.
With the Falcons taking on the Carolina Panthers in Week 1, Robinson got the scoring started with a beautiful touchdown reception. Atlanta QB Desmond Riddler found Robinson in the flat where Carolina appeared poised to stop him for a loss.

As a member of the Atlanta Falcons, Calvin Ridley was suspended by the NFL for an entire year. He sat out the entire 2022-23 season. But during the suspension, the Falcons traded him to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars wanted a weapon for quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Ridley couldn’t play for Jacksonville after the trade because of the suspension. However, the NFL reinstated Ridley prior to this season. So, he made his return to the field for the first time in an NFL regular season game since October 24, 2021.
That’s a span of 686 days between NFL games for Calvin Ridley.

All eyes are on the rookie quarterbacks in Week 1. CJ Stroud for the Houston Texans, Bryce Young for the Carolina Panthers and Anthony Richardson for the Indianapolis Colts are all beginning their NFL careers in the early Sunday window.
Stroud and the Texans are taking on the Baltimore Ravens on the road. The Ravens got the ball to start the game and quickly went three-and-out. They punted to Houston and Stroud took the field.

U.S. track and field star Noah Lyles grabbed the attention of several NBA stars when he questioned why NBA champions considered themselves as “world champions.”
On Friday, after Team USA lost 113-111 to Germany in the FIBA World Cup semifinals, Lyles took a jab at the award-winning rapper and songwriter Drake regarding the world champion dialogue.
In a Q&A with GQ, Lyles questioned why the rap star included himself in the conversation, telling him to “go back home.”
“Drake, what are you doing here? Go back home,” Lyles said. “This is an NBA conversation.

The Angels hoped to turn the corner after the All-Star break and make a push to the 2023 MLB Playoffs. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned, and they entered Sunday, Sept. 10 a whopping 13.5 games back in the AL Wild Card race.
With big decisions on the horizon this offseason, it appears the team is open to doing something that would certainly shake the MLB landscape in a big way — trading Mike Trout.
