Since June of 2020, Aljamain Sterling has fought four times.
Despite more than a modicum of controversy along the way, Sterling went undefeated during that stretch. It included two defenses of the UFC bantamweight championship, equaling as many as any former champ in the division.
During that same timeframe, Henry Cejudo did not fight. The former bantamweight champ, flyweight champ, and Olympic gold medalist was retired, and he rested and rehabbed lingering injuries. Yet retirement was quick for Cejudo.

First, let’s take a walk down memory lane and see which first-year stars have earned the award in the last 10 years to see what trends we can find that help us make a better wager.

There is no love lost between USC and UCLA. The crosstown rivals, separated by less than 15 miles, always bring the fireworks when they are stacked up against each other in athletic competition.
Sunday’s track meet was no exception. It ended with mayhem and two disqualifications.
The Trojans traveled to Westwood for the annual dual meet, hosted by the Bruins, and split, with the women’s team winning for the former, and the men’s team winning for the latter. Despite the final result, it was USC that got the moral victory with an intense win in the 4x400m relay.

From the track itself to the chase of the Bulls, here’s what to watch in the Miami Grand Prix
A quiet April in Formula One, with just two races on the schedule, has given way to what will be a busy May. Fresh off last week’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix the grid is back in action this week, heading to South Beach for the Miami Grand Prix. This is the start of a rather hectic month for the circuit, as Miami represents the first of three races on the calendar, with Imola and Monaco coming later in the month.
Matt Chapman had tried an early setup and a leg kick, and neither had made him the MVP candidate he knew he could be. So, this winter, he turned to the last timing mechanism left.
“That was pretty much the only other load I hadn’t tried,” he says, grinning. “So the toe tap it was.”
He’s smiling a lot these days. At 18–11, his Blue Jays are the third-best team in the American League. (Unfortunately the first two also play in the East.) One month into the season, FanGraphs gives them an 85.3% chance of making the playoffs.
Good morning, I’m Dan Gartland. Twelve hours later I’m still thinking about the terrible loss the Yankees had last night.

Plus: Suns’ offense can’t find its footing in Denver
With presumed MVP Joel Embiid announced as inactive just hours before tip at the TD Garden, the Sixers turned to James Harden to pick up a lot of the lost production. He answered the call with authority, scoring a playoff career-best 45 points on 17-30 shooting, including 15 in the fourth.
Tyrese Maxey ended up as the number two guy for the Sixers; he scored 26 points and grabbed four (!!!) steals.
Tuesday night’s NBA playoffs doubleheader features Game 2 of Heat-Knicks and the Lakers-Warriors series opener.
Miami took Game 1 at Madison Square Garden over the weekend despite a late injury to Jimmy Butler, whose status is up in the air for the second game of the series. And Golden State draws a LeBron James-led team in the postseason for the first time since 2018 after its Game 7 win over the Kings on Sunday.
Below are five betting trends to take note of for this evening. Heat-Knicks begins at 7:30 p.m. ET on TNT and Lakers-Warriors gets underway at 10 p.m. on the same network.
Novak Djokovic will officially make his return to the U.S. Open after missing last year’s tournament as the United States is poised to end its COVID-19 vaccination requirement for international travelers on May 11.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion infamously is not vaccinated against COVID-19 and was prevented from playing in several tournaments in the 2022 season, including when he was deported from Australia due to his vaccination status. Djokovic also missed all the American tournaments last season, including Indian Wells, the Miami Open and the U.S. Open.
The Denver Nuggets took a commanding 2–0 series lead over Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns on Monday with a 97–87 victory at home that was once again powered by their star, Nikola Jokić, who finished with 39 points, 16 rebounds and five assists.
The reigning two-time NBA MVP has been his usual unstoppable force so far in the postseason and now has the Nuggets two wins away from a trip to the Western Conference finals.
