Here’s the big thing to watch in every NBA play-in tournament game.
The 2022-23 NBA regular season is now officially in the books. And with that chapter of the league year now completed, we now turn our attention over to the third annual play-in tournament.
To help us prepare for the festivities, we figured it wise to preview each of the initial matchups by focusing on the in-game wrinkle that could decide who makes the playoff and who goes home early.

Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal is tired of rowdy fans that lash out at athletes over bad bets.
Beal, 29, spoke with reporters on Monday as part of an exit media session for the year — Washington (35-47) missed the playoffs. He looked generally frustrated throughout the interview.

Beal Reminds Fans Losing is Part of the Game
The 11-year vet addressed an incident involving a fan last week where things got physical.
The Baltimore Orioles are on the come up. As the second-worst team in the AL East in 2022 turns its focus toward the future, beer has become a big part of their day-to-day.
Not really, but in spirit.

Warriors forward Draymond Green weighed in on the Rudy Gobert incident which occurred during the Timberwolves’ regular-season finale on Sunday. After Minnesota’s center was seen throwing a punch at teammate Kyle Anderson during a timeout in the game against the Pelicans, Green took to Twitter with a brief reaction.
The Warriors forward elaborated on the altercation on the latest episode of his podcast, The Draymond Green Show, during which he slapped Gobert with backhanded compliments.
NASCAR indefinitely suspended driver Cody Ware on Monday as he faces assault charges in connection to an April 3 incident.
Ware was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault on a female and felony assault by strangulation inflicting serious injury after an incident in Mooresville, N.C. He was taken into custody Monday and subsequently released on $3,000 bond.
Ware, 27, is the son of Rick Ware—the owner of Rick Ware Racing, for which Cody drives the No. 51 car. His brother, Carson, is also a stock car driver.
A few of the Western Conference play-in tournament teams are starting to become regular fixtures in the field.
The Lakers, Pelicans and Timberwolves are all making their second appearance this season while the Thunder are in it for the first time. The teams that have been here before also have fond memories as their trips ended in playoff berths, for Los Angeles in 2021 and for New Orleans and Minnesota last year.
The No. 7 seed (Lakers) host the No. 8 seed (Timberwolves) and the winner advances to play the No. 2 Grizzlies in the first round.
NFL running back Kareem Hunt isn’t the same dominating back from 2017 when he led the league in rushing.
From a successful run in KC to going on a brief hiatus for assaulting a woman and playing four seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Hunt is a free agent, and apparently, he’s got little value among RB-needy teams.
One reason for this decline in value was Hunt’s production in 2022. And the Browns were reportedly frustrated that Hunt had slowed down dramatically.
The Indiana Fever selected former South Carolina with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA draft.
Darnell Wright needs to learn how to ignore the haters before he reaches the NFL later this month. The Tennessee offensive lineman went off on a Bengals analyst in his DMs on Monday, but the hatchet has since been buried.
Wright, who stands 6-foot-5, 333 pounds, was a five-star recruit in the Class of 2019 and more than lived up to his billing. He was All-SEC First-Team in 2022 and anchored a Tennessee offense that led the nation in total offense and scoring.
His tape speaks for itself.
