Virtually any way you slice it, between keeping restricted free agent Austin Reaves at a surprisingly reasonable figure and adding valuable role players like Gabe Vincent and Taurean Prince, the Lakers have had a wildly productive summer.
And with free-agent big man Christian Wood joining the roster, too—at the veteran minimum, no less—it’s simply a cherry on top for Los Angeles.
That said, the ESPN report outlining that superstar Anthony Davis told the club he’d like to play less at center would seem to negate much of the benefit in adding someone like Wood.

What do NFL Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa, former No. 1 pick Joe Burrow and long snapper Luke Rhodes have in common?
They’re all the highest-paid players at their respective positions in the NFL.
The Colts signed Rhodes, 30, to a record-setting contract extension Friday, the team announced. The deal is worth up to $6.465 million over the next four years, making Rhodes the new highest-paid long snapper in the league, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. 
Rhodes, the Colts’ second-longest tenured player, behind center Ryan Kelly, will earn $2.

Earlier this offseason, Dak Prescott made headlines after unveiling a highly detailed and personal tattoo that reportedly took around 10 hours to complete. Fast forward nearly six months later, and surprising details of Prescott’s extensive ink session now have been revealed.
By now, the Cowboys quarterback’s affinity for tattoos is fairly well known. But, for this latest tattoo which covers most of his right leg, the 30-year-old underwent supervised sedation for roughly 11 hours (!) in order to finish the process, according to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Minutes into a scheduled press conference in London, Tyson Fury, heavyweight champion, morphed into Tyson Fury, supersized entertainer. Seizing a mic, Fury paced the dais. He complimented his opponent, Francis Ngannou, whom Fury will face Oct. 28 (“You’re one good looking S.O.B,” Fury said), thanked the event’s host, Saudi Arabia, and praised Ngannou for walking away from UFC and betting on himself.
“Everyone said he’s an idiot,” Fury said. “Now he’s going to make $10 million.”
As good as Fury is in the ring—and the undefeated Fury is very good—this is his element.

Zhang shot up the Kroger Queen City Championship leaderboard as the LPGA rookie’s form looks strong as she eyes her second title.
LPGA rookie phenom Rose Zhang has struggled over the last few weeks, but she has found her form at the Kroger Queen City Championship.
She fired off a 4-under 68 on Friday to sit at 6-under in the tournament. Zhang is currently eight shots off leader Peiyun Chien, but anything could happen.
