Angels designated hitter and pitcher Shohei Ohtani is working on another season for the ages: a .305/.408/.665 slash line, 44 home runs and 91 RBIs, to go with a 10–5 record on the mound, 167 strikeouts and a 3.14 ERA.
However, in a way, Ohtani’s season is now 50% over.
Ohtani was diagnosed with a torn UCL after his start against the Reds Wednesday, leading Los Angeles to shut him down on the mound for the season. He is expected to continue to hit this year, but questions about his impending free agency rebound.

With Aaron Rodgers set to make his Jets debut on Saturday, the team’s plans for the star quarterback’s first game with New York have reportedly been revealed ahead of kickoff.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that the Jets intend to play Rodgers and the starters for two-to-three series, and up to 20 plays maximum, against the Giants at MetLife Stadium. Garafolo noted the plans remain fluid but fans should expect to see the four-time MVP “quite a bit” in New York’s preseason finale.

Hovland continued to play confident golf as he impressed fans with his entire game at the Tour Championship Saturday.
ATLANTA — Viktor Hovland started his day tied for the lead at the Tour Championship, but as he made the turn, he seemed to be the only one crushing East Lake. At one point, the former Oklahoma State golfer held a four-shot lead as he made back-to-back birdies on the par-5 6th and par-4 7th holes.
Hovland continued to build momentum off his historic round of 61 at the BMW Championship.

An unbelievable foul ball mishap gave ESPN producers an unexpected headache on Saturday during Curaçao’s 2–0 international final win over Chinese Taipei at the Little League World Series.
With both teams looking to break through in the midst of a scoreless game, Curaçao’s Nasir El-Ossais took a swing at an inside pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning. Unfortunately for ESPN, however, the 78 mph fastball El-Ossais hit took an unlucky bounce off the righty’s bat, over his shoulder and straight into a camera behind home plate.

Celebrated racing champion Kurt Busch announced his retirement from the NASCAR Cup Series via a video posted on social media page on Saturday afternoon.
Busch, who has not competed since suffering a concussion in a July 2022 crash in qualifying at Pocono Raceway, is stepping away from the sport he has loved for competed in for over two decades. After a brilliant career, filled with the highs and lows of crashes and championships, the 45-year-old Busch acknowledged that father time catches up to us all.
