Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott spent nearly half a day under sedation at one point this offseason, but it wasn’t for any kind of medical procedure. It was to help him get through a marathon tattoo session.
There’s a lot of pressure on the Cowboys quarterback to lead the team on a successful postseason run this year. All that pressure has got to be taxing. Fortunately, he got at least 11 hours of pretty good rest while getting the intricate new ink this past spring.

Ripping open the Mailbag as we inch toward the first day of training camp . . .
If not Miami, give me a viable option for Damian Lillard?—Stephen, Fort Worth
Right now, the Heat are the Blazers’ only option. I’ve been checking in with teams I believed might be interested for weeks and have not picked up a whiff of intrigue from any of them. The combination of Lillard’s contract (four years and $175 million remaining) and Portland’s asking price (more significant than the Tyler Herro/first-round-picks-centric package Miami is offering) has left the Heat as the lone suitor.
For now.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed that quarterback Joe Burrow will play Sunday against the Browns, he told reporters Friday.
Burrow injured his calf at the beginning of training camp, forcing him to miss the majority of the team’s workouts. Although he was carted off the field, the fourth-year pro avoided a major injury and was able to use the rest of the preseason to get healthy.
Burrow returned to practice last week and said he has been preparing to play in Week 1.
“I’m ready to go,” Burrow said Wednesday.
Padraig Harrington believes the US Ryder Cup team would have known exactly what to expect when they arrived for their two-day scouting mission at the Rome venue on Friday.

Team USA entered its FIBA World Cup semifinal matchup with Germany on Friday as 10.5-point favorites. The American squad filled with well-known NBA talent and still suffered defeat by the count of 113-111.
By no means was this Team USA assembled for the FIBA World Cup the same caliber squad we’ll see in the 2024 Olympics, the loss to Germany is still a tough scene for U.S. basketball.

What Steve Kerr’s team knew was a risk heading into the tournament reared its ugly head against the Germans.
1. Happy Football Season. Here’s what you need to know about the networks airing NFL games this season and the broadcast crews you’ll be listening to every Sunday, Monday and Thursday (and Friday and Saturday) later in the season.
ESPN
• John Madden and Pat Summerall worked together for 22 seasons. No broadcast duo has had a longer run in NFL history. The 2023 season will represent Year No. 22 for Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.
• ESPN/ABC will air four Monday Night Football doubleheaders this year. They aren’t traditional doubleheaders, though. They are “side-by-side” games.
Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo hasn’t played in more than a month and will miss the rest of the season after being diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome, but that didn’t stop umpire Alan Porter from ejecting him from Thursday night’s game against the Tigers.
Rizzo was in the dugout with the rest of his teammates and took issue with Porter’s strike zone during rookie Jasson Domínguez’s third-inning plate appearance. Domínguez was called out on strikes after taking a pitch that appeared to be well below the bottom of the zone.
Nick Saban might actually be a teddy bear when it comes to dealing with his mother Mary, and one story proves it.
The Alabama coach is notoriously tough on his players, and he’s the kind of guy who simply doesn’t tolerate nonsense. When it’s time to focus on football, it’s time to only focus on football……unless you’re Mary Saban.
Brett McMurphy recently shared an incredible story about how Mary called her son in the middle of practice in 2013 to brag about how she’d successfully hit a hole-in-one.
Nick Saban’s mom once called during practice to tease him about golf.
Jerry Jones isn’t calling 2023 a Super Bowl-or-bust season for the Cowboys, but he says the team should “do anything” to get to that level.
