The 34-year-old Chapman has spent the past six seasons in New York.
After spending more than six seasons in the Bronx, former All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman has found a new home.
Chapman reportedly has reached an agreement to join the Royals, according to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand. The deal is for one year and worth $3.75 million, with unspecified additional performance bonuses.
Chapman, who turns 35 in February, lost his closer job with the Yankees midway through last season. He appeared in 43 games, posting a 4-4 record with a 4.46 ERA and nine saves.

On Wednesday night, NHL Network analyst EJ Hradek appeared on NHL Now! and commented that Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov should “Get on a plane” and “get involved” in the war in Ukraine, all because he didn’t wear a Pride Night jersey.

Former Southern Mississippi quarterback Ty Keyes is another curious case of the transfer portal. There are a lot of dots that remain unconnected with his recent commitment to East Mississippi, and not to Syracuse.
Keyes, a three-star recruit in the Class of 2021, finished his high school career with 14,525 passing yards and 155 total touchdowns. He won three state titles in Mississippi and received 10 offers from the likes of Tulane, Auburn, Kansas, Ole Miss, Oregon, Louisiana and Nebraska, among others.
