A male athlete has set yet another women’s national record in Canadian powerlifting.
Anne Andres — a biological male who identifies as a woman — won first place in the Canadian Powerlifting Union’s 2023 Western Canadian Championship on Sunday. There, Andres set both a Canadian women’s national record and an unofficial women’s world powerlifting record.
This is Andres’ 10th first-place finish out of 12 competitions.

To calculate a competitor’s total score, officials add together their top weights in the squat, bench press and deadlift.

My 18th camp is a short drive from home. My visit to Foxboro, recapped here …
1) The defense has a chance to be really, really good. Most of the key veterans from a solid 2022 unit return. Linebacker Ja’Whuan Bentley, whom the Patriots just paid, has had a really nice summer. The roster is deep on the defensive line and in the secondary. Between Matthew Judon, Josh Uche, Deatrich Wise and rookie Keion White, the edge-rush group might be as good as it’s been in a long time.

Ques Glover only joined the BYU basketball program three months ago. He is already gone.
The Cougars lost one of its expected primary scorers ahead of their first season in the Big 12 just like that. It all came down to Name, Image and Likeness.
It’s a tough look for BYU, which has been at the center of multiple NIL-related struggles beyond just hoops. They either couldn’t or didn’t pay Glover enough. Or both.
Sounds more like the former than the latter. Definitely both.

Throughout the much-hyped prep career of Arch Manning, the Texas freshman quarterback has dodged comparisons to his famous uncles, Peyton and Eli. But while he awaits his first-ever college game, it’s very likely that he’s already done something on the gridiron that his Super Bowl-winning family members never were capable of.
Speaking to reporters following Monday’s practice, head coach Steve Sarkisian lauded Manning for his scrambling ability, and revealed that his new prodigy reached a speed of 20 miles per hour, according to CJ Vogel of The Football Braniacs.

Shortly after it was reported that former Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott would sign with the New England Patriots, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Dalvin Cook has inked a one-year deal with the New York Jets. It’s a one-year deal worth up to $8.6 million, and it creates yet another potential committee in fantasy land.
Cook finished a respectable 11th in PPR points among backs a season ago, but he also had his fewest rushing yards per game and yards per rush average.

Cook, 28, was released by the Vikings on June 9 after six seasons. He ran for 5,993 yards with Minnesota, the third most in franchise history behind Adrian Peterson and Robert Smith.

The Jets are gathering something of an All-Star team and that’s hard to dispute with the addition of Dalvin Cook on Monday.
Cook, 28, has agreed to join the Jets on a one-year contract after spending the last six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
Cook has agreed to the deal but a source declined to say how much the deal is actually worth. NFL Media reported the deal’s maximum value is $8.6 million. The figure includes incentives but does not represent the base salary.
The NFL’s highest paid running back is San Francisco’s Christian McCaffery, who averages $16.
