Fantasy football league scoring has evolved since the days of the Greater Oakland Professional Pigskin Prognosticators League (GOPPL), which is considered the first-ever fantasy league. These days, managers can choose from a number of different scoring formats. One that has become more popular in the last decade is what’s called “PPR scoring.” That simply stands for point per reception.
PPR formats, in which players are rewarded either a half point or a full point per catch, has become the new “standard.

Following a run of five Big Ten titles in a seven-year span, Ohio State has been pushed aside by Michigan in the last two seasons.
The NFL’s top 100 players. Not a new concept. We’ve seen the lists and how they change annually based on the ensuing performances.
But here at The MMQB, we’re adding a new spin. We’re forecasting how the top 100 will look after the 2023 season. Which players will rise and become stars, or grow into superstardom? Which players will begin declining either because of age or because of their situation?
On Monday, we unveiled the first 20 players on the list, Nos. 100-81. At the midseason point, we’ll update and evaluate our list before a final review after the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
Brandon Staley’s quest to destroy NFL secondaries in 2023 began with his love of the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s.
Their guard play was exceptional and, when considering their size for the era, most of them were outliers. Michael Jordan, Ron Harper and Scottie Pippen were all 6’6″ or taller, allowing the entire offense to play a hybrid style of basketball—multiple players slashing, driving, shooting and playing inside—at a time when the game was more positionally rigid.

The unknown with Trey Lance has become the problem, rather than a tantalizing solution.
The early career of Trey Lance has been closer to a nightmare than a fairytale from the very beginning. Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch traded three first round picks to move up in the 2021 NFL Draft because they viewed Lance as the guy who would elevate the 49ers past the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. He had to work out.
While plenty of people are thinking it, Curt Schilling is going on record with his prediction: Aaron Boone will be fired by the New York Yankees.
During the latest episode of ‘The Curt Schilling Baseball Show,’ Schilling was sure to note that the Boston Red Sox have utterly dominated the Yanks this season before laying out the not-so-great reality the franchise finds themselves in at the moment.
Schilling also made it abundantly clear that the blame should be directed towards the Yankee players, not Boone, who the team will regret letting go in his opinion.
Shohei Ohtani has had a magical season with the Los Angeles Angels. It seems like every night he’s doing something that leaves MLB fans in complete awe, either on the mound or at the plate. We’re all just really lucky to be able to experience a level of greatness that we may never see again.
You know who’s really lucky, though? Young kids who get to look up to Ohtani and dream of one day playing baseball the way he does.
One player from Japan at the Little League World Series summed that up perfectly when he listed Ohtani as his favorite superhero.

Max Verstappen is in the middle of what may go down as one of the most dominant seasons in Formula 1 history.
There are certain athletes that look like they were quite literally born to play their respective sports with how cool they look doing so. You’ve got Alex Ovechkin in the NHL, Kevin Durant in the NBA, Patrick Mahomes in the NFL, and, of course, Bryce Harper in MLB.
During the Phillies’ 10-4 win over the San Francisco Giants on Monday, Harper reminded the baseball world just how fun and unique he is.
Antonio Brown is back to his antics and involved in another story that’ll only prove troubling for the ex-NFL wideout.
An arrest warrant was made for the 35-year-old in Miami-Dade County court on Aug. 9 after Brown failed to make child support.
It’s the second instance Brown has been lagging on payments this year and faced with jail time in order to pay up.
In April, Brown was accused by his ex and baby mama Wiltrice Jackson of owing her more than $33,000 in missed payments. The two dated during Brown’s days with the Steelers and share a daughter.
