CLEVELAND (AP) — Ty Jerome had to wait five years to play in his first NBA playoff game.
On Sunday night, he made the most of the opportunity.
Jerome scored 16 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter, and the Cleveland Cavaliers rolled to a 121-100 victory over the Miami Heat in the first game of the Eastern Conference first-round series.
“Solid. Solid Game 1,” Jerome said.
Jerome had the third-most points in a Cavaliers playoff debut, behind LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.

Let the people worship in peace.
Phil Jackson, the legendary NBA coach, had a unique criticism of the league.
Known for his meditative practices during his coaching tenure, Jackson mocked the NBA for scheduling games on “sacred days.”
“Again the NBA tests faith by playing multiple games on Christmas and Easter … sacred days,” Jackson posted on X.
Famous for guiding the Chicago Bulls to six titles and the Los Angeles Lakers to five while coaching from 1989 to 2011, Phil Jackson’s epic run gives his words serious clout.
Apr. 20—JAMESTOWN — The University of Jamestown carried a quick start to a 12-1 win over Dickinson State University (North Dakota) in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday, April 20, at Jack Brown Stadium.
The Jimmies got off to a fast start thanks to three bunts forcing the Blue Hawks pitcher Tate Williams into two errors to score three runs and give the Jimmies a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
“I think it was more about trying to get runs on the board early on and when one of them worked we went back to it,” Jimmies head coach Tom Hager said.
