Manny Ramirez was inducted into the Guardians’ Hall of Fame on Saturday for his seven-plus-year stint with the franchise. And at the event, the 12-time All-Star was asked about his time with Cleveland and the disappointment of not winning a World Series.
Ramirez gave his take on why his Cleveland teams, which earned five consecutive playoff berths from 1995 through ’99, were never able to win a World Series—and he was blunt with his answer.
“I think we should have won it, but we had no pitching,” he said, according to The Athletic.
His candor is valid.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been three years since one of the strangest sports broadcasting moments in recent memory unfolded before our eyes on live TV when then-Reds play-by-play man Thom Brennaman—an hour or so after a hot mic picked him up uttering an anti-LGBTQ slur on air—offered an apology during the team’s game against the Royals on Aug. 19, 2020.
During that apology, then-Reds outfielder Nick Castellanos hit a home run, and Brennaman, for some reason, felt it necessary to interrupt his apology to make a note that Castellanos had hit “a drive into deep left field.

Keith Hernandez is also human. The SNY Mets announcer forgot to bring the proper attire to work, so he had to fix the issue on the spot.
Appearing on New York station PIX11’s broadcast of the Mets’ visit with the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, Hernandez was forced to wear a makeshift PIX11 shirt after forgetting his shirt back at the hotel.
The play-by-play announcer appeared on TV wearing a polo with a piece of tape over the heart that read “PIX11,” scribbled in marker.

The Spain star was making her way onto the podium after receiving her Women’s World Cup winners’ medal after victory against England
Last season, Justin Jefferson established himself as one of the best receivers in the NFL, leading the league with 128 catches and 1,809 receiving yards for the Vikings. So there aren’t many better sources to judge the game’s best receivers.
While speaking recently with Matt Harmon of Yahoo Sports, Jefferson named his top five route runners in the NFL today, and to no surprise, he ranked himself at No. 1. However, instead of a No. 2, he gave a 1B option with Raiders receiver Davante Adams right there with him at the top.

Facing Toronto’s Chris Bassitt on the mound in the fourth inning, De La Cruz sent the ball to deep right-center in what seemed like a possible triple for the speedy shortstop.
Not only did Elly bring in Matt McLain from first, but he also went the distance to tie up the ballgame.
Lucy Bronze didn’t have to say a single word to FIFA President Gianni Infantino to send a clear message she was not pleased with his latest comments.
The England national team fell to Spain in the FIFA World Cup final on Sunday, and when Bronze went to claim her silver medal, she appeared to snub Infantino and left him hanging when he offered a handshake. The silent message was delivered shortly after Infantino said women should “pick the right battles” to “convince us, men, what we have to do” over equality issues in soccer.
Crime in California is so bad it has made its way to the homes of the rich and famous.
At least two burglars broke into Los Angeles Dodgers star Max Muncy’s Los Angeles home last week, according to TMZ Sports. And this incident comes just a month after burglars got into his teammate Freddie Freeman’s mansion in Studio City. Both crimes occurred while the players were at work.
Muncy was on his way home from a game at Dodger Stadium when his alarm company contacted him to say thieves had broken into his house. Authorities said security video showed the criminals ransacking the home.
