CHICAGO (AP) — Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred and Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper had a spirited exchange during a question-and-answer session between the commissioner and the team, according to a person with direct knowledge of the conversation.
The person spoke to the AP on Monday on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation. Phillies slugger Nick Castellanos previously confirmed some details from the meeting in interviews with The Bandwagon and ESPN.
Manfred met with the Phillies and Red Sox during their series last week in Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia 76ers selected VJ Edgecombe with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft. Adding a young player like him is a big piece for the future as the Sixers look to bounce back from a miserable 24-58 season that was decimated by injury.
Edgecombe was limited to only two games in the summer league as he was limited by a left thumb sprain, but the rookie showed what he is capable of in those performances which should excite the Sixers as they move forward. The 19-year-old guard is expected to give Philadelphia some good production on both ends of the floor.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter was a guest on the Pat McAfee Show on Monday and shared some information about Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders, as well as the reasons why the two sides remain far apart in contract talks.
Schefter said McLaurin wants more money than fellow class of 2019 draftee, DK Metcalf, who signed a new deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason at an average annual value of $33 million. While the two are from the same draft class, Metcalf is over two years younger.
