Chelsea’s “four man shortlist” for Jackson backup named by sources

Enzo Maresca’s comments yesterday about Liam Delap were very positive, and reminded us all of how likely it is that Chelsea sign a striker this summer.
Football.London’s Bobby Vincent has today reported that the Blues have reduced their targets to a four man shortlist: Delap is joined by Jonathan David, Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko.
All are young, but have a decent bit of pedigree and goalscoring record at a high level. There are differences between them of course, but they all come into a similar category.

Think of the best third-round and lower picks over the last few decades, and how many of them have either slam-dunks or at least future pathways to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Tom Brady was a sixth-round pick in 2000. Marshal Yanda was a third-round pick in 2007. Frank Gore was a third-round pick in 2010. Jason Kelce was a sixth-round pick in 2011. Jason’s brother Travis was a third-round pick in 2013. Richard Sherman was a fifth-round pick in 2011.

Happy Masters Moving Day to all who celebrate! Plopping our asses on the couch from noon to 6, taking four naps in that span, and gulping down beers while watching the best in the world tackle amen corner.

Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Nico Iamaleava skipped spring practice on Friday without his coaches’ knowledge or permission as he seeks a pay raise, according to ESPN. Iamaleava is scheduled to make $2.4 million from Tennessee’s NIL collective this year and his representatives wanted to renegotiate to pay him in the $4 million range.
