Basketball Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas ranted Friday about the level of “professionalism” in the NBA, saying it “has diminished so much.”
The Detroit Pistons legend delivered his remarks on NBA TV prior to the Los Angeles Lakers–Houston Rockets game. The source of his ire was LeBron James, who was shown on the broadcast warming up without a shirt on.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Pete Alonso homered and drove in three runs, Brandon Nimmo also hit a home run and Griffin Canning was solid into the sixth inning as the New York Mets held off the Athletics 7-6 on Friday night.
Alonso, who went 3 for 3, hit an RBI double off JP Sears (1-2) in the fifth inning and had a sacrifice fly in the sixth before taking Jose Leclerc deep for a solo shot with two outs in the eighth. It was Alonso’s fourth homer of the season.

The Mets were cruising in Sacramento when the Athletics made a furious comeback late, but Pete Alonso‘s eight-inning home run gave New York enough juice to pull out the 7-6 victory on Friday night.
Alonso’s fourth home run of the season followed three unanswered runs from the Athletics, and his three RBI were the difference in Friday’s game. The Mets bullpen also collected 2.2 scoreless innings before Edwin Diaz allowed two runs in the ninth before finally closing it out.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Luka Doncic had 39 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and the Los Angeles Lakers clinched the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference playoffs with a 140-109 victory over the Houston Rockets on Friday night.
Austin Reaves scored 23 points for the Lakers, who also clinched the Pacific Division title for only the second time in the last 13 seasons and won 50 games for just the second time in 14 years.
LeBron James scored 14 points before sitting out the final 19 minutes of Los Angeles’ sixth win in eight games. Doncic played only the first three quarters.

SEATTLE (AP) — Cal Raleigh hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Seattle Mariners beat the Texas Rangers 5-3 on Friday night.
It was Raleigh’s third home run of the season and snapped a 1-for-16 cold spell at the plate. He hit a cutter from Texas’ Chris Martin 399 feet with an exit velocity of 109.7 miles per hour.
The Mariners (6-8) have now won back-to-back games. Andres Munoz pitched the ninth for his fifth save of the season.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — James Harden had 23 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, Kawhi Leonard scored 28 points and the Los Angeles Clippers held off a late flurry in the final two minutes and beat the Sacramento Kings 101-100 on Friday night.
Ivica Zubic had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Clippers, and Norman Powell added 16 points.
With one regular-season game remaining the Clippers are tied with the Denver Nuggets at 49-32 for the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference.
