Jack Nicklaus wasted no time in congratulating Rory McIlroy after his win at the Masters on Sunday – and for becoming only the sixth golfer to win the career grand slam.
Nicklaus, the North Palm Beach resident, called into the CBS’ post-Masters telecast soon after McIlroy, who lives in Jupiter, defeated Justin Rose on the first playoff hole.
“I’m so happy for him. I’m delighted for him,” Nicklaus said. “It will take the world off his shoulders and you’re now going to see a lot more of really good golf out of Rory McIlroy.

A three-game series that started on a good note for Duke’s baseball team turned sour in the last two games.
The Blue Devils lost the last two games of a series at Miami this weekend, by a combined three runs.
It drops Duke back into a four-way tie for seventh place in the ACC, which has 16 teams playing baseball. The Blue Devils, along with Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Virginia, are all 9-9 in the ACC with four series left in the regular season.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Zion Williamson watched from the bench in street clothes — along with teammates CJ McCollum, Herb Jones, Trey Murphy III and Yves Missi — as the New Orleans Pelicans’ worst season in two decades ended with a seventh-straight loss on Sunday.
In the stands across the court during the 115-100 loss to Oklahoma City was Pelicans basketball operations chief David Griffin, who still hasn’t gotten to watch the team he assembled last summer all play together under the direction of Willie Green, the coach he hired four years ago.

Injured San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama took another step forward on his road to recovery.
In February, doctors discovered a blood clot called deep vein thrombosis in Wembanyama’s right shoulder. Due to the severity of the injury, Wembanyama missed the rest of the regular season.
However, things are trending upward for the young Frenchman, and he said as much on Sunday.
While he is not doing full-contact drills, he has increased the intensity of his recovery.

The Sky add another first-round draft pick to their stock ahead of Monday’s draft.
The Chicago Sky have acquired the No. 11 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft from the Minnesota Lynx, the team announced Sunday evening. In exchange, Minnesota receives the Sky’s first-round pick in 2026. The Lynx also no longer have the right to swap 2026 first-right picks with Chicago — a pick swap they acquired last year.
