Coaches have nominated 12 athletes for lohud Girls Lacrosse Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital.
Last week, 14 players were nominated and readers cast more than 37,000 online votes.
The win went to Fox Lane senior Zoe Stonecipher, who, over two games, had 10 goals and eight assists, notching her 300th point on varsity.
Nanuet’s Grace Ryan was the runner-up.

Another coach bites the dust in Phoenix.
The Suns parted ways with coach Mike Budenholzer after a disappointing one-year tenure, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported early Monday.
The move marks another failed attempt at launching the Big 3 experiment involving Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal (if you can consider him a ‘star’ nowadays).
Budenholzer holds a career NBA coaching record of 484-317 and a .604 winning percentage.
He suffered a rough year in Phoenix, finishing 11th in the West with a 36-46 record.

Another week of Sun Belt Conference play is in the books for Louisiana softball and they are no closer to the top of the conference.
The Ragin’ Cajuns (20-22, 6-9) hosted James Madison last week for a three-game series and in the comforts of Lamson Park, they couldn’t churn out wins.
“It was nice being at home in front of the Ragin’ Cajuns fans, obviously not the outcome we wanted out of the first two games,” UL coach Alyson Habetz said. “We continued to fight and ended up getting a good win in the last game.

Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee had the recent privilege of playing a round of golf with Donald Trump and came away highly impressed by the President’s game.
Chamblee, a former winner on the PGA Tour, is among the game’s most reputable voices, and one to never shy away from telling you exactly how he sees it. The President’s golf swing would fall into that category, and based on Chamblee’s recollection, Trump can move the ball.

Team USA has made the perfect selection for team captain heading into the World Baseball Classic.
In March 2026, 20 nations will field a baseball team to compete for international glory. Pool play games will take place in Houston, Tx, Miami, FL, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Tokyo, Japan.
Team USA will be looking to avenge a loss in the 2023 final to Team Japan in which Shohei Ohtani struck out Mike Trout (both members of the Los Angeles Angels at the time) in the bottom of the ninth to win the game, 3-2. 
Trout was the obvious choice for captain last time around.

Load management has been a dirty word in the NBA ever since Gregg Popovich started resting his starters during regular season games to keep the San Antonio Spurs fresh for their 2010s championship runs. These days, most of the NBA has realized the chase for a ring is a marathon, not a sprint, and it doesn’t benefit anyone to run players into the ground during the dog days of the season.
Not every NBA player wants to take games off, though.
