The Oklahoma Sooners picked up their first commitment of the spring transfer portal window, earning a pledge from former Stanford offensive lineman Jake Maikkula. Maikkula joins the Sooners with two years of eligibility remaining.
He’s started 20 games over the last two seasons with the Stanford Cardinal, contributing at guard and center. The Sooners get some much-needed experience for their interior offensive line. Maikkula entered the transfer portal after Stanford fired head coach Troy Taylor at the end of March.
The Dolphins desperately need a competent backup to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. One who can run the offense the way Tua does, when Tua can’t. In recent years, they obviously have lacked that kind of player.
They think they have one now in Zach Wilson.
On Tuesday, G.M. Chris Grier explained why they opted for Wilson in lieu of a more experienced option.
TCU’s Madison Conner, a Chandler native, was the only Arizona-bred player taken in the 2025 WNBA draft on Monday, April 14.
Conner, a 5-foot-11, fifth-year senior guard, was a third-round pick at No. 29 by the Seattle Storm. Conner played alongside Hailey Van Lith, TCU’s 2025 Associated Press All-America Third Team selection. She was the No. 11 pick overall by the Chicago Sky.
Conner earned The Arizona’s Republic’s 2020 All-Arizona honors during her high school junior season at Gilbert Perry.
