The Stanley Cup Playoffs are almost here, and we’ve already run through the best matchups that we’ll be getting out of the Eastern Conference, so let’s turn our sights toward the Western Conference and fire up the Intrigue-O-Meter.
By the way, I’m thinking about repainting the Intrigue-O-Meter — which looks like a Geiger Counter with hot rod flames painted on it — for next season. Maybe I’ll go with Eddie Van Halen stripes and give the hot rod flames a break.

Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio knows that the only way to help C.J. Stroud improve is by shoring up the offensive line. It was the top priority entering free agency last month.
It remains the top priority entering draft season next Thursday night at Lambeau Field.
But Caserio, who enters his fifth draft since joining the back-to-back AFC South champions, knows the team could be further along in their plan with better calls when building the trenches. For that, he’s admitted to the mistakes.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard isn’t sure exactly when he will be playing again. He’s just grateful that moment will come sooner than anyone could have reasonably expected.
Lillard was cleared for full-scale basketball activities and taken off blood-thinning medication this week after missing the last month with deep vein thrombosis in his right calf. The news comes as the Bucks prepare to open the playoffs Saturday at Indiana.
History has not been kind to the Los Angeles Clippers. From the franchise’s very beginning, it has only been known as the little brother to the Lakers. They both may have played at the Staples Center through the years, sure, but when they played each other, it was always a home game for the team in purple and gold.
There were times when the Clippers tried to make Staples feel more like home. For example, the team covered the Lakers’ banners for every home game they’d play during the Lob City era. And, for a while, that worked. But it never lasted.
Milwaukee Bucks all-star Damian Lillard met with the media April 18 in advance of the team’s first-round playoff series against Indiana, making his first public comments since the team announced he had been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis in his right calf on March 25.
The Bucks didn’t go through an entire practice in advance of their afternoon flight to Indianapolis, but it was the second day in a row Lillard participated without limitation.
He said that the specialists and doctors he had been seeing acknowledged this was a remarkably quick recovery from such a diagnosis.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is about as dumb as they come, and he proved that again earlier this week.
On Tuesday, the coach spoke with reporters after his squad defeated the Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in. During the press conference, he wore a “Harvard Basketball” shirt.
Kerr doesn’t do things like this without a purpose, and he made it very clear why he wore that specific shirt.
