West Virginia University has found its next men’s basketball coach following Bob Huggins’ resignation and retirement.
Instead of locking down an outside hire, the program opted to roll with an internal candidate for the 2023-24 NCAA basketball season.
The Mountaineers announced Saturday that assistant coach Josh Eilert will take over as interim head coach for the 2023-24 campaign.
“Josh Eilert is the right person to lead our men’s basketball program next season,” WVU Athletics Director Wren Baker said.

Florida and LSU square off in an All-SEC Men’s College World Series Finals
Game 1: LSU 2, Florida 0 – In progress, Top 3rd (LSU batting)
Top 3rd – Gavin Dugas goes year, roping a line-drive shot to left field for his 17th home run of the season to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
Beloso rockets a liner to right for a single, and that gets Florida head coach Kevin O’Sullivan out of the dugout to check on Sproat.
Bottom 2nd – After a leadoff strikeout, Luke Heyman singled to right to give the Gators a runner at first.
The LSU Tigers showed up for the first game of the College World Series against Florida and didn’t break from tradition.
They showed off an awesome tradition as they hopped off the bus and entered Charles Schwab Field.

As that tweet says, that fella handing out daps is Willie Moses, and he has been the team’s driver for the last 6 or 7 years.
LONDON—It started with the Star Spangled Banner and then God Save the King.
Then a local primary school boy yelled into a microphone in an English accent “play ball,” but it’s not clear that the Cardinals got the translation, as they were humbled 9–1 by their biggest rival, the Cubs.
It was billed as the Old Rivalry, New Ground, but it could’ve just as easily been called the Massacre at West Ham as the 54,662 fans in attendance at the London Stadium, the home of the English Premier League’s West Ham, saw the Chicago bring its West Side brand of baseball to London.
Here are all the scheduled cards the UFC will be staging.

Maguire, the 28-year-old from Ireland, won last week on the LPGA Tour. Now she has her sights set on winning her first major championship.
Through three days at Baltusrol’s Lower Course, Leona Maguire has been the best player at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
Danny Jansen and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. each had a two-run homer as the Blue Jays bounced back with a 7-3 win over the Athletics on Saturday.
Social media star Paige Spiranac ripped critics on Saturday afternoon by pointing out what she saw as a glaring double standard.
And she might have a point. A pretty solid one at that.
Spiranac tweeted a video from a Savannah Bananas baseball game during which two players took their shirts off and started dancing while wearing cowboy hats.
That’s a weird sentence to write about any other baseball team, but that’s par for the course with the Savannah Bananas.
However, Spiranac noted a distinct difference in reactions between that clip and anything she has ever posted to social media.
CROMWELL, Conn. — Justin Thomas reacts on the fourth green with caddie Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay during the third round of the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands on June 24, 2023. | Photo by Patrick Smith/Getty Images
Thomas, the two-time PGA Champion, has struggled this season, but he put those woes behind him Saturday at the Travelers Championship.
A week ago at the U.S. Open in Los Angeles, Justin Thomas carded an 11-over 81, the worst round of his major championship career as a professional.
He called that performance both ‘humiliating’ and ‘embarrassing.
Fans in San Francisco were unhappy with a called strike against Giants’ left-handed slugger Joc Pederson on Saturday, and one individual from the stands made their thoughts abundantly clear.
During the weekend matinee against the rival Diamondbacks, Pederson saw the count evened up 2–2 on a questionable called strike from home plate umpire Mike Muchlinski.
A Giants fan could be overheard on the broadcast’s hot mic vehemently opposing the decision from the umpire, and the NBC Sports broadcast team couldn’t help but agree with the angry fan.
